[edit] Doctor J. Beam
A little bit about me.
I'm the IT Technician at Wheelers Hill SC. My job has a wide range of responsibilities, from daily maintenance of damaged PCs to rolling out new labs and developing software for both teaching and non-teaching staff to use. I also manage a much smaller network of computers and specialist equipment for a small optometrical business.
In my spare time, I consult to non-profit organisations and charities regarding graphical/visual work (advertising, publicity, etc) and develop websites and web applications and supply ongoing development and support for them.
I have been playing guitar since age 8, and you can see my collection of guitars below.
I also am the Lead Developer and General Manager of Railpage, and with the help of fellow Administrators and Moderators (such as fellow Wikipedian Johnmc) we keep the site ticking over.
[edit] My music tastes
My main musical interests are rock and metal. However, my current song playlist isn't limited exclusively to those two genres. Some of the more notable bands in my current playlist are Dream Theater, Megadeth, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. I have been lucky enough to see three of those four bands recently, and I'll be seeing the fourth in September 2008.

[edit] Guitars
I've been playing a variety of different styles since I started in 1996. I originally was taught classical guitar, before I moved through more modern styles from pop, through rock and finally rested on metal.
In terms of instruments, I currently own six guitars. I also own a few amps - unfortunately, they're all solid-state amps. My most recent acquisition has been my Jackson Kelly KE3, which is an absolute dream to play.
My current collection of guitar is as follows:
- Jackson 'Kelly' KE3
- Gibson 'Les Paul' 1960 Re-Issue
- Ibanez GAX30TR
- Cort AD 850CE
- Ebay special dreadnought acoustic (picked it up for $90, and is an excellent guitar)
- Classical nylon-strung acoustic, model and manufacturer unknown
