[edit] Infrequently Asked Questions About Doc Strange
Q: Why "Doc Strange"?
- A: Well, it's not a reference to the '40's comic character Doc Strange, but to the later Marvel Comics character Doctor Strange, The Sorcerer Supreme. I just thought "Doc" sounded snazzier than "Doctor". So yes, this does mean I prefer Marvel over DC, although DC did publish Watchmen which is my favorite comic book/graphic novel and I firmly believe it to be one of the best in the medium (and many - including none other than Marvel's Stan Lee, one of my personal heroes - agree with me)
Q: What do you do mostly on Wikipedia?
- A: Mostly I revert vandalism using Twinkle, and make updates to pages of indie rock bands to assure that they're as updated and correctly cited as possible. Also i'm quite prolific on Articles for Deletion. I've gotten the worst of several editors who proclaim their article is notable despite the fact most of 'em aren't. I also hate hoaxes.
Q: Apparently, you have a blog, what is it again?
- A: Just follow this link.
Q: You've changed your signature recently. Why?
- A: Because i've finally gotten around to it.
- It's now Doc StrangeMailboxLogbook
Q: When did you join Wikipedia?
- A: October 11, 2005
Q: And your first edit?
- A: My first edit was a pretty ballsy one, as it was the creation of an article on Badfinger drummer Mike Gibbins. Gibbons had passed away on October 4, 2005 and I noticed there was no article on him, thus taking WP:BOLD to heart, I created the dang article here, becoming my first non-my user page edit to Wikipedia. If you didn't notice already, Mike Gibbins now redirects to Badfinger.
Q: And your first edit edit?
- A: This one, about the Boston radio station WFNX. 'FNX used to broadcast down to the Ocean State, and I used to listen to it. It no longer does and i've moved to listening to a somewhat better station despite the fact that it doesn't play enough Kate Nash, dammit. This edit was about the brief hiatus of the local rock show New England Product (which was technically "canceled" during the time I wrote it, but then came back within the next few weeks).
Q: What Userboxes have you created?
- A: Three as of February 24, 2008, both band related. One for the California-based shoegaze band Silversun Pickups, another for the NYC indie band Vampire Weekend and another for the British Grindie band Hadouken!. I was surprised there wasn't a userbox for any of them and I made them. I'm kinda proud of them, truth be told. The fourth is for the indie band Arctic Monkeys, who do have a userbox, but I created a second one because I didn't much care for the other one and am giving people a second option. I was thinking of making one for Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, but I am unsure of how many people would use it, and it must be in Welsh and I don't know enough. Currently, i'm making one for The Fall.
Q:Your userpage looks odd, what's up?
- A: I suggest you're talking about the oddly spaced Userboxes. These are best viewed in Mozilla Firefox. I dunno why Internet Explorer does that. IE's weird like that. Unsure about Safari, as I don't own a Mac.
Q: You're talk page shows alot of bad moves on AfD, why do you still vote?
- A: Those only show a small sliver of my AfD voting. In several AfDs I was instrumental in the keeping or deletion process of the article. Most of those are done either without me googling for reliable sources or a minor lapse in judgment. Sometimes something looks like an obvious delete, but then it becomes apparent that it's a keeper.
Q:Pepsi or Coca-Cola?
- A: I prefer Dr Pepper to all soft drinks, but I like Pepsi more than Coke. Alot more. But RC Cola is better than both Pepsi or Coke.
Q: What is the point of this FAQ?
- A: Umm... To fill space (mostly) and for people who want to know about m me because i'm semi-prolific on Wikipedia (I think at least. Yeah, that's a cop-out isn't it?)
