[edit] Psychopathy

I dunno about you guys, but it seems that Cortex displays quite a bit of the traits of psychopathy. Let me explain.

  1. Superficial charm and above average intelligence
  • I dunno about the charm bit, but he's an evil genius, which might count as above average intelligence.
  1. Absence of delusions and other signs of irrational thinking
  • Throughout the Crash Bandicoot series, I've never witnessed Cortex display any signs of delusional or irrational thinking.
  1. Untruthfulness and insincerity
  • In Crash Bandicoot 2, he frequently lies to Crash so that Crash can gather Crystals for him.
  • In Crash Twinsanity, he lies about himself being the most popular kid in school and himself being heartbroken about his parrots being sent to the 10th Dimension.
  • Cortex deceives Crash twice in Crash Tag Team Racing into getting parts for two of his vehicles, telling Crash that he plans to use one of them for "mass helping people".
  1. Lack of remorse or shame.
  • In Crash Twinsanity, he showed no signs of either when his aforementioned parrots vanished.
  1. Pathological egocentricity and incapacity to love.
  • Cortex seems to think highly of himself, especially in Tag Team Racing. Also, he is never seen being sexually attracted to anyone.
  1. Sex life impersonal, trivial, and poorly integrated.
  • What sex life? My point exactly.

Where these traits do appear to be present in this character, several of these traits present with psychopaths also overlap with traits present with Narcissistic personality disorder, which he appears to have more in common with. Further, Doctor Neo Cortex is described here as having a personality similar to a typical mad scientist, and generally narcissism is more strongly associated with mad scientists than psychopathy is. However, I would like to hear a response as to whether or not this is an accurate category.--66.24.229.7 17:15, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes you are actually quite accurate, May i add he is, well..... pretty useless combatant without his gadgets, he is also scared off by a few enemies in Twinsanity. i dunno but he's a bit spineless, Uka Uka is always commanding him and Cortex usually just 'obeys' him without question. kjlangkjl 07:42, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edit warring

I want to see a discussion and not more edits trying to outwit the other. If the protection is lifted and you continue to edit war, you may be blocked for a longer period of time. -- ReyBrujo 20:22, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Okay, since CBFan was merely reverting the page for convienience, I've going to go ahead and revert it back to the earlier version, EXCEPT for the disputed statment. We can discuss that here. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.42.99.93 (talk • contribs).
NO! That's NOT discussing the issue, that is ONLY asserting YOUR opinion...again. To keep it neutral, we HAVE to get back to the version BEFORE it was edited. By you editing it before ANYTHING has been discussed, you're vandalising. We discuss it here first, THEN we edit it. Once we come to an agreement, we edit it. NOT before. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CBFan (talkcontribs).
  • No, most of those edits were minor cleanups, and half of them weren't even mine. Now, I've removed the only edit I made that you have a problem with, but the rest of the edits stay.

I apologise. My language wasn't at all apropriate. Sorry, Tuxedo.Coco 03:07, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Photo

Would you consider getting rid of that photo from Crash Bandicoot Warped and replace it with a photo from Crash Tag Team Racing?

Tag Team Racing, eh? While I can't really help you in terms of photos, I might be able to make a request to someone who has an emulator. How about an emulated photo of Doctor Cortex in the Tag Team Racing cutscene "Von Clutch Makes A Deal"? Cat's Tuxedo 21:12, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Good Idea

Yeah! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CocoBandicoot17 (talkcontribs).

How do you all like the new photo I put up? Cat's Tuxedo 00:16, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm.... I think they kind of killed the image of our fave characters... I mean, look at Tiny! He looks like a tiger, not a thylacine!!!!!!!!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CocoBandicoot17 (talkcontribs).

Look, Cat's Tuxedo was asked to chance the pictures and he/she did (my apologies). The last thing he/she wants is one person ranting and raving about them, especially a person who hates a game they have not played.

She was talking aboot the photo of Cortex's Titans appearance, which I didn't put up (though I did submit three other photos for this article). And for future reference, I'm a he. Cat's Tuxedo 19:06, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry.Coco 01:10, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Voice

Wil you please put a "Voice" section like you put in other articles of the Crash Bandicoot characters? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.244.187.116 (talkcontribs).

Image:CortexChild.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
