Doc Crandall

James Otis "Doc" Crandall (October 8, 1887 in Wadena, Indiana - August 17, 1951 in Bell, California), was a former professional baseball player who played pitcher in the Major Leagues from 1908-1918. He would play for the Boston Braves, St. Louis Browns, St. Louis Terriers, and New York Giants. Crandall was also the first Major League pitcher to be used consistently as a reliever. He had a lifetime batting average of .285.
