shouldn't this be a wiktionary entry, rather than a wikipedia entry?

Does the Dobby Loom relate to Dobby fabric, or is the naming coincidental? Dobby fabric seems to include one or more vertical stripes of a contrasting colour (and sometimes thread type, it would seem) woven into the item itself. -- 216.152.109.165 18:28, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

It is very common for the fabric industry to "steal" weaving terms to use to describe the resulting cloth, so it is quite likely that Dobby fabric refers to fabric woven on a dobby cloth just as Jacquard (a highly ornamented) fabric is usually woven on a Jacquard loom.
