Template talk:Dnote

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dnote is an new experimental citation system. It is created in order to allow the use of direct URL links in articles, including even numbered links [1] whilst keeping full citation information about those links for future editors to use in verification and link fixing.

[edit] Why?

  • Citations are fundamental to verifiability and that is fundamental to Wikipedia's value as an encyclopedia.
  • To help get citation information from some people who wouldn't give it otherwise.
  • To experiment.

[edit] How?

{{dnote|url=http://example.com|author=Johna James|linktext=Johna says|title=why I like to swim with wales [sic]|date=1877-08-08}}

Looks like Johna says

You can miss out the linktext and then you will get a numbered link. Don't do that since it's bad style; a person with a screen reader, will be unable to work out which link is for what, for example.
