[edit] Barbarossa
With the basic casualty counts and areas occupied in Dec 1941, and due to the fact that the Germans were not seriously challenged until Kursk and Stalingrad (with the German victory of Second Battle of Kharkov in between), I simply can not see Barbarossa as a X Soviet victory; The Battle of Moscow could be called a Soviet strategic victory. Siege of Leningrad could in 1941 be called a stalemate. Battle of Kiev (1941) is called a strategic German victory - just some examples. But for Barbarossa, we have to sum all things up, and if we only look at Barbarossa itself I fail to see any victory at all. By Dec 1941, everything was hanging in the balance. And the matters were complicated at this point; Lend-Lease was practically only in the startup phase, Japan attacked USA, Germany declared war on USA. The war turned into a true world war.
Gatoclass, Ko Soi IX, I dare you one further: "Initial German operational successes, overall strategic stalemate, see article for details". This is actually the best one I can think of at the moment. Or even shorter: "Strategic stalemate"? My regards, --Dna-Dennis 11:58, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
