This article is an adequate description of eukaryotic DNA methylation. However, there is no mention of prokaryotic DNA methylation! This is an equally important topic, and should be mentioned in the article.

  • Action of DNA methylation in modulating gene activity can take place at remote sites in addition to or in preference to promoter-proximal locations. Though one news article reports this as 'unexpected', it's not really considering the known role for remote enhancers, locus control regions and other regulatory islands.
