Hi Sheena,

I'm just letting you know I responded on my talk page, in case you're not in the habit of puting people's talk pages on your watch list when you leave comments.

If you could outline the classification of Central MP or Halmahera-Geelvink Bay, I think that might be a nice contribution to a neglected area. Also, I've redone the Papuan languages based on Ross's recent classification, but most of the details are inherited from Ethnologue, as I only have access to what he's put online, so if you know anything about this you might be able to help there too. Just some suggestions in case you're looking for something to occupy all that spare time you must have.

Thanks for letting me know. I do have it on my watch list (and saw it before noticing this), and I've left comments there too!

I'm not as familiar with the branches above Oceanic. I'll see what they say in the Lynch, Ross & Crowley book, but I can't remember if they go into this in much detail. I can't think off the top of my head what the typical reference is for this stuff. But I'll look into it. It'd be good to know anyways. But if it takes much digging, it might have to wait until I'm back from holidays, which isn't for a couple of months.

As far as the Papuan languages, I know a decent amount about a couple of the families (Baining, Ndu) and feel comfortable enough about which are the more reliable references, but not a whole lot about many of the others. But I should be able to track it down easily enough. There's a new book just out by Pacific Linguistics which should have a lot of stuff in it. (I think Ross is one of the editors or contributors at least). I'm debating on buying it, but even if I don't, one of my supervisor's told me she's ordered a copy, so I will get to read it.

And thanks for the suggestions on what's the best to work on. I'm sure you know better than I do on what needs work. And it's good for me to do a little more research into these areas anyways. I should say, though, that my contributions might be sporadic at times. Right now, in particular, because I'm off for holidays. Well, I'd hate to say what's best to work on; I just thought those areas were neglected. But AN as a whole is comparatively well covered. It's the Papuan languages that are really embarassing. I've been trying, but the Pacific is not my area of expertise. But I think what's important is to cover areas you enjoy - we'll probably get better articles that way. kwami 00:01, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I did Southern Oceanic languages, but its branches need to be verified, especially North Vanuatu languages, which is simply the North and Central Vanuatu languages article classification with the Central Vanuatu branch deleted.
