Thanks for uploading Image:Ben Green, Mathematician.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. [edit] Riemann curvature tensor

Hi, Dmr2, did you write this?: "For a two-dimensional surface, there is (up to symmetries) only one non-zero component of the Riemann tensor, R1212, which is equal to the determinant of the metric tensor gij." I take it that last bit was a brain blip :-/ ---CH 13:58, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi, no I didn't write it. I just corrected the English without thinking about whether it made sense! I have tried to amend it so that now it does make sense. --Dmr2 10:24, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I noticed that you correct my deficient english and I thank you. But I also want to ask (respectfully) about the meaning of the sentence above:

Further, what about the components {R^i}_{jkl} for 3-manifolds? Do you know of something basic about them, worth for the Riemann curvature tensor article?

Hi Juan. In think "brain blip" is referring to forgetting the Ricci scalar. For surfaces, R1212 should be Rg/2, not g.
I'm not sure what we could write about the Riemann tensor for 3-manifolds other than that there are 6 independent components, which can be thought of as the components of the Ricci tensor, Rab. --Dmr2 10:33, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
