[edit] Profumo pictures PD?
Hi!
Thanks for uploading Image:JohnProfumo.jpg and Image:ChristineKeeler.jpg. You tagged both those pictures as {{PD}}, but I wonder why they would be? Can you refer me to a statement where the copyright holder turns them into the public domain? Thanks! —Gabbe 12:36, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- The same with Image:Dr Larry Brilliant.jpg and Image:CharlesPhillips.jpg. —Gabbe 12:38, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- I chose these particular pics of Image:JohnProfumo.jpg and Image:ChristineKeeler.jpg because they are widely available on Google images and used by bloggers including national press. Pictures of Image:Dr Larry Brilliant.jpg and Image:CharlesPhillips.jpg are publicity pictures by Seva Foundation and Oracle corp and again widely used when these people do public speaking. erpguru 04:30, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

- That does not in any way mean they're not copyrighted. You shouldn't mark them as "public domain" unless you're absolutely certain the images have no copyright holder. Public domain is for material which is not covered by copyright, such as paintings made hundreds of years ago, or media ineligable for copyright, such as images made by the United States federal government. In a few specific cases we allow copyrighted images under the "Fair use" provision of American copyright law, you can read more about that on WP:FUC. —Gabbe 17:37, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

- I understand. I added the "licence" for Image:CharlesPhillips.jpg there is even a button to download the image...it must mean "fair use".

[edit] Exact Software
If you believe an error has been made, all is not lost: see Wikipedia:Deletion review. If an article is deleted that really shouldn't be, deletion review is designed to catch these cases that "fall through the cracks" of the deletion system. If material that demonstrates notability is presented, a request for undeletion will likely succeed. — Saxifrage ✎ 03:22, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Kewill logo.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Kewill logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:11, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Better source request for Image:JohnProfumo.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:JohnProfumo.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. howcheng {chat} 17:54, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:CharlesPhillips.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:CharlesPhillips.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 20:35, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Little context in Global Trade Management
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Global Trade Management, by AA (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Global Trade Management is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Global Trade Management, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 16:13, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Source needed
Your recent contribution(s) to the Wikipedia article Twitter are very much appreciated. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at How to cite sources. Thanks! -Pilotguy contact tower 22:29, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
