Dmitri Vladimirovich Borodin (born 8 October 1977 in Leningrad) is a Russian football (soccer) goalkeeper. He currently plays as for FC Sibir Novosibirsk and Russia.

[edit] Club Career

Born in Leningrad, USSR, Dimitri Borodin began playing in the junoir squad for Lokomotiv St. Petersburg in 1998. After establishing himself, he transferred to Zenit St. Petersburg where he was a reserve goalkeeper behind Roman Berezovsky and Vyacheslav Malafeev. In 2002, Borodin transferred to Torpedo Moscow and quickly established himself as the first choice goalkeeper. However by 2007, Borodin became the third reserve goalkeeper behind Ilya Madilov and Maksim Kabanov. During the 2008 winter transfer window, Borodin transferred to FC Sibir Novosibirsk.

[edit] International Career

Dmitri Borodin was called up to the Russian national side on August 16, 2006 for a friendly against Latvia but was on the bench and has yet to make his debut. With the recent return of Igor Akinfeev, consistency of Vyacheslav Malafeev, and the improving performace of Vladimir Gaboulov, it is unlikely that Borodin will get a call to the national side any time soon.
