[edit] New Project
Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.
If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 17:18, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar may be awarded to those that show a pattern of going the extra mile to be nice, without being asked. - I was very impressed, not only with the reading list and the advice and insight, but also with the fact that you took the time to do so. In a moment when it would have been easy to simply comment, you chose to attempt to educate, in an obvious attempt to help others. This is deservedly well-earned. - jc37 02:57, 8 May 2008 (UTC) |

- Thanks for your input. I don't see this as a question of inheriting notability. I found it odd that a film that is in commercial release by a well-known distributor would be considered non-notable. Hi Dlohcierekim; I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. Yes, it should be deleted, it was vandalism. Corvus cornixtalk 01:30, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] User:Cassidy011
Hi. It does indeed appear to be a userpage masquerading as a hoax article. I've stripped the speedy from it for now because I'm not sure that it can be speedied nevertheless, since hoaxes are speediable as vandalism and I'm not sure that userspace hoaxes count. I've tagged it as a userpage and stripped the categories, for now. I'm trying to decide if I should join you in talking to the creator about it, nominate it for MfD or what. I'll probably delve more into recent contributions, since I see there's ongoing page creation that may be more hoaxes in article space. *sigh* I so much prefer straightforward situations. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:44, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- I've warned the user that creating hoax articles (as she or he was busily working one) is regarded as vandalism and may lead to an account being blocked. I request that s/he stop creating them and instead discuss the matter on his or her talk page. S/he immediately blanked it, which one can only interpret as a big "message received." Currently, I'm monitoring account activity for a while to see how to proceed. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:58, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- I could be off-base, but I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't a rather young user. I've periodically checked contributions to see if she or he returns. Once before I encountered a user who was adamant in creating hoax articles...created them over a period of weeks before finally being blocked. As soon as the block was lifted, he was back at it again. Never responded to communications. Very perplexing! Anyway, I have no doubt that it's a hoax, since the show "features" several of the recent contestants on American Idol, including the winner, David Cook. Both of them are likely to be too busy with this American Idols LIVE! Tour 2008 to be making a TV show. :D I agree with the name coincidence; it smacks of adolescent fantasy. I'd agree that at this point it's a good idea to wait and see if s/he comes back before taking the userpage to MfD. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:28, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have contact and am talking to her at my talkpage. If you should happen to wander by and want to add anything, feel free. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:25, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bidou Yamaguchi
Dear Diohcierekim - I appreciate the recent editing of my article, Bidou Yamaguchi. There is one thing I wish you would reverse: The use of a macron in Bidou's artist-name as he uses this in the English language environment. This is what is actually recommended in the Wikipedia Manual of Style (Japan): "3. Use the form publicly used on behalf of the person in the English-speaking world." All uses of his name Bidou that I have seen in publications and brochures use Bidou. He signs his name in Western script: "Bidou." In addition to the rule in the Style Manual, we have these clear indications of his own personal preference and his own usage in the West. Again thanks for your editing. [edit] Hi, bro.
Actually, I didn't create it, but I'd tagged it as a speedy as did a couple of other users. It's not really useful as a redirect, there's some info on the place at another article and it was nearly incomprehensible anyway. Thanks for asking, though. [edit] Declined speedy
Hi Dlohcierekim, I appreciate you letting me know about that. My reason for tagging both articles as A1 cases was not because the subject of the article couldn't be identified from lack of context – anyone who read the band's page could probably figure it out – but because it was "a very short article". I understand that that's a somewhat inaccurate "cut" of the whole definition of A1, but sometimes I think it might apply. This isn't appropriate with all cases, but sometimes I view A1 as "yes, one can sort of figure out who/what the article is about, but it only contains two or three words, so it's not useful or providing any additional information outside the main article the subject is associated with." In this case, Scarlet Party. I agree with your redirecting to the band page, though, and I actually had that as a second option in mind. So that was sort of my reason for my CSD tagging; I knew it would be sort of borderline, but I wasn't sure which direction to take. Again, thanks, I appreciate the heads-up. :) Cheers, JamieS93 16:12, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

As a way of gathering further feedback, I have created a page in my user space for other editors to leave comments about things that they might have observed during my RfA and to continue my "education process," as it may be considered. [edit] Starckdeutsch
Avoiding to comment in the AfD to prevent the impression of canvassing. I've examined the results in Google Books and the Google News Archive, and it seems Starckdeutsch (although I had admittedly never heard of it before) has been significantly covered by linguistists. It is mentioned e.g. in a book by very prominent German linguist Walter Jens, and at one point mentioned alongside the more well-known constructed language of Volapük. From a first glance, among the most significant sources are:
- de Gruyter, Walter (1973). Zeitschrift für germanistische Linguistik (in German). de Gruyter.
- Köhler, Peter (1989). Nonsens: Theorie und Geschichte der literarischen Gattung (in German). Göttingen: C. Winter. ISBN 3533041107.
- Jens, Walter; Karin Kiwus (1996). Berlin, ein Ort zum Schreiben: Porträts und Texte (in German). Berlin: Aufbau-Verlag, Akademie der Künste.

Hi Dlohcierekim,
I'm sad.. I really love Wikipedia, but find it hard to understand why was Jaman's profile deleted? I noticed that you have deleted us twice and it would be great to understand why this is.
We are a company with significance, and there are other companies listed on Wikipedia that are similiar in nature (video on demand). Its been deemed as advertising, no significance, but that's not the case. we'd really like to be included on wikipedia. How do you determine what companies allow a profile (Veoh, Joost, Hulu, etc) and others not?

[edit] Jaman deletion - reply
Thanks - I read over the page re: notability and companies - and again, I'd like you to do a bit more research as Jaman is an established company 1. Press coverage; as stated on the wikipedia notability requirements: " An organization is generally considered notable if it has been the subject of coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not sufficient to establish notability. All content must be verifiable." Jaman has been in pubs like Wall Street Journal, NYTs, Business Week, the Economist, blogs like Mashable, techcrunch, etc as well as many other entertainment pubs like Variety. Please see http://www.jaman.com/a/download/?f=news for example. 2. Needs to have more than one employee - there are 35+ people employed full time at Jaman (I am not sure of the exact number) 3. Gaurav Dhillon (CEO) profile is listed, and has been, for a long time on wikipedia. there's a dead link to Jaman from his profile.
can we please submit a new short, jaman profile for your site?

[edit] Courtesy Notification regarding my recall criteria
Hiya. Just a courtesy note to say I've named you as one of the editors that I would accept a request for recall from. There's nothing onerous about it, and you don't have to do anything. It's simply to let you know that as I have added myself to CAT:AOR I needed some unfussed criteria for recall, and I believe your judgement fits that criteria neatly. Thanks! [edit] My RFB
Thank you for your comments in my RFB. Since it was only at 64%, it was a shoo-in to be unsuccessful, so I withdrew. I didn't want it to run until its scheduled close time because my intent in standing for RFB was to help the bureaucrats with their workload, not give them one more RfX to close. Through the course of my RFB, I received some very valuable feedback, some of it was contradictary, but other points were well agreed upon. I have ceased my admin coaching for now to give me time to revamp my method. I don't want to give up coaching completely, but I'm going to find a different angle from which to approach it. As for my RFA Standards, I am going to do some deep intraspection. I wrote those standards six months ago and I will slowly retool them. This will take some time for me to really dig down and express what I want in an admin candidate. If, after some serious time of deep thought, I don't find anything to change in them, I'll leave them the way they are. I'm not going to change them just because of some community disagreement as to what they should be. Will I stand for RFB again in the future? I don't know. Perhaps some time down the road, when my tenure as an administrator is greater than one year, if there is a pressing need for more active bureaucrats, maybe. If there no pressing need, then maybe not. Useight (talk) 03:00, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Yaoi house
Probably a good choice, even though the IPs will probably turn out to be the same user as the registered user. They did a good job, anyway, getting their attack on the publisher permanently on Wikipedia and cached in google, so you gotta respect that type of success. --Blechnic (talk) 22:39, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
