[edit] Thanks
Dr. Laub, I hope you don't mind that I deleted my original comment, since I was pretty detailed about my personal health concerns. I need to be more circumspect with this. That said, my health has definitely improved in the last two years, and I am very fortunate that my energy level has improved and I am working again. Even my internist was even surprised at the negative ANA. I do hope you help with the BI article. Your input is most welcome.MollyBloom 18:19, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi,
Could I ask you not to use 'the nation' to refer to the United States? There are more than a hundred others in this world. - Richardcavell 06:34, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Breast Implant Article
Dr. Laub, Would you please help us by introducing some edit on the offline article that we can discuss? We direly need some input, because it is not going well. Rob Oliver has gutted, without comment, again. This has been reverted. I welcome input, and discussion, to include the studies that show 'no correlation' ...and perhaps there could be some mention of the criticisms by both sides. Eg funding bias, selection bias, lack of long term study etc. But I do not trust Oliver, for obvious reasons, since he does not discuss, but instead merely guts. He has even been called on this conduct in another article, where he posted a link to his own website. He was told this was a conflict of interest. I am livid about this. I want to be reasonable, and understand the article needs help. I do not want to dismiss all controversy, as Oliver is still trying to do. He has even cherry picked and slanted the "pro-implant" articles. This is not what will make an intelligent article on breast implants. Self promotion and advertising for breast implants should be left to his own business website. Although, even then I would point out that his website is unlike some other plastic surgeons websites that do at least point out there may be complications and problems. These other plastic surgeons probably understand that consumers actually do need to be informed. Further, these doctors probably understand the liability they risk by whitewashing.molly bloom 00:54, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] BI
Dr. Laub, what Molly objects to is the general consensus in the literature on this topic and any reference to the many well-done papers on this. Reflecting this is not a "white washing" of complications & risks. What she has produced is a distorted and macabe report on implants in general, silicone implants inparticular. Please read the BI discussion to this blog-link that has her "livid". I also encourage you to check out the blog for you own interest as I hit a pretty wide range of topics which you might find interesting.[1] Droliver 20:04, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

- No, that is not what I object to. I object to Rob's selective summaries of studies, and to his total unwillingness to cooperate on a balanced discussion. Even other editors (and administrators) have warned Rob about his gutting sections of the article, without discussion.MollyBloom 18:26, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] User Page
I switched to Macs about four years ago. As an engineer, I appreciate both the hardware and the software design - much smarter than the PCs/windows. I borrowed your user boxes on macs - I am creating my user page, finally. Thanks!! MollyBloom 18:38, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cosmetic surgery
Great work on the Plastic surgery page. I've added a reply on the talk page to your comments on the cosmetic surgery section which I think (as an Aussie) is too US focused. Good to see you've had a go at the BI article - It tires me out. Will Blake 05:28, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Question on Plastic Surgery -need clarification
Dr. Laub, would you help clarify something for me? IN the article on plastic surgery, here is a quote:
"Within the US, critics of plastic surgery note that it is legal for any doctor, regardless of speciality, to perform "cosmetic surgery", but not "plastic surgery"
What exactly does this mean? That it is not legal for anyone in the US but a plastic surgeon to perform plastic surgery (eg reconstruction, or augmentation etc)? And how is a plastic surgeon defined? One board certified in plastic surgery? If that is the case as is implied here, then the statement is untrue. General surgeons can perform plastic surgery, wtihout board certification in plastic surgery. This needs clarification, and you seem to me to be a good person to help with this..MollyBloom 01:33, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion of American Board of Plastic Surgery
A tag has been placed on American Board of Plastic Surgery requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
