Rosenthal Sheeter.

A Rosenthal Sheeter is a type of machine that can mechanically shear or cut a textile to a preset length. Almost any products wound onto rolls during its manufacturing process can benefit from be converted into sheets by a Rosenthal Sheeter. The product can be automatically measured out and cut to a specific length into single pieces by this type of automation equipment. The main purpose of the design of a Rosenthal sheeter machine is production applications. There are many sizes, capacities, and line speeds that a Sheeter can be configured into. The quality of the overal cut length, that is to say, "How squarely the sheets are cut and how accuraetly the overall length of each piece cut is another way that a Sheeter can be engineered."

The process by which a sheeter cuts is by a motorized moving knife assembly which passes a second fixed postion knife. It is similar to a scissors type of cutting action. The shear process occurs between the two knives point of contact. One of the many uses of a Sheeter is to perform production, usually in a factory setting, of a known job size or desired length of a panel. Some examples of the Rosenthal Sheeter application are: Windshield manufacures such as Guardian industries, AP technologies and others use sheeters to cut the Butilate product sandwiched beteween winshield glass. Bullet-proof vests are made using layers of Kevilar that have been sheared using a Rosenthal Sheeter. Paper mills may use a Sheeter to produce short runs on production sized test paper sheet samples. The medical supply industries appoint Rosenthal sheeters to their factorys for production on items such as throw away sugical drapes and sheets used in a hospital operating room setting. The printed circuit board indusrty has utilalized Rosenthal Sheeters to cut copper foil for many years. Prepreg is another textile that is cut by Sheeters for the circuit board industry. These two products are combined under pressure and heat to become the ridge but flexible circuit boards which are later made into completed circuit boards. These completed boards are used in computers, automotive components, areospace, cell phones, and hand held devices such as Ipods, GPS devices, and video gaming. Many packaging products are sheared on Rosenthal Sheeter such as Bubble-pack, micro foam, single faced cardboard, foam and plain brown kraft paper. The Newer emerging industries such as solar energy collection panels have designed Rosenthal Sheeters into their assembly process. These recently developed Green Energy products have some of their components sheared by Rosenthal Sheeters. The sheets cut by the Rosenthal Sheeter are used in the sub-assembly of many styles of solar panels.
