[edit] References
Hi DJ. Welcome to Wikipedia. I was very excited to see you contributing to classical music pages. When you need to insert references, the best way to do it is to use "ref" tags. See NatWest Three for an example of how to do this. Thanks. Grover cleveland 07:19, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] PSO
Looks good to me! I haven't been watching that article lately and most likely would have made the same changes myself, so thanks for doing so. --Wspencer11 (talk to me...) 14:20, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Formatting references
Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did to Riccardo Muti, makes it harder to read. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
- please take a moment to review template:cite web template:cite news, for help on easily creating properly formated reference links. --emerson7 | Talk 01:10, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Britten church parables
Hi. Good of you to add references to these. I've removed the "unreferenced" tags - but you could have done that yourself (it doesn't need an admin to do so - I'm not one). BTW, could you put a line or two on your User page so that it doesn't come up as a red link. Any old stuff will do! Best. --GuillaumeTell 20:49, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Stubs
Yes, it's a difficult question. An obvious stub is an article where clearly more needs to be said, and an obvious non-stub is one where all or most aspects have been covered, not necessarily in great detail. So for articles about operas, I'd be inclined to de-stub them if they include date and place of first performance, list of roles, synopsis, list of recordings, and references and external links, if any. Other sections (background, sourced discussion on the music, more performance history, role creators, etc.) are desirable, but the article can stand alone without them for the time being.
For other opera-related articles (singers, directors, managers, opera houses, companies, genres, etc.) it's more problematic. It depends on how much there is to say, but then, for example, a complete list of every performance in which a particular singer appeared would be rather wearying, and not all that notable, even for Maria Callas or Enrico Caruso. So one has to use one's skill and judgement.
If you want more opinions, feel free to raise the subject on the Opera Project talk page. --GuillaumeTell 17:13, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] A Village Romeo and Juliet
Great job. Delighted to see this. There is also a DVD film version with Hampson. Best from the Opera Project. -- Kleinzach 00:17, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Belshazzar's Feast (Walton)
Nice job on the references; thanks! I further changed the bit about the Biblical sources because it's not exclusively Daniel; Psalm 137 is the most obvious. I just realized Psalm 81 is in the finale. David Brooks 19:03, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Greek Passions
Dear DJRafe. I recently added Czech article about the opera to the Czech Wikipedia, including several info based on Czech language sources. If You want, I can translate it in a few days into the English article to give You some basis to edit. Anyway - thanks for Your interest in Czech opera, Okino 22:55, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- In my sandbox, You can find the translation. Choose any info You need - and ask any question. I have also written Czech articles of the Julietta opera and several others about Martinů stage works. --Okino 17:03, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] MacDiarmid
Hey there
I made a few changes to the article Alan MacDiarmid, adding content and referencing. Could you please have a look and check if I made any mistakes? I'd be much obliged.
Appreciate it,xC | ☎ 19:00, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Conductors
I came across your recent edits to Paul van Kempen and other conductors -- great work adding the references. I wish more Wikipedians were like you!! Grover cleveland 03:09, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Musical Times
I notice that you supply a lot of references to the Musical Times. Do you know of any way to access old issues online? Google Books occasionally has a "snippet view" but it's not that useful. Thanks. Grover cleveland 02:21, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Mathis der Mahler
Many thanks for the additions! Is the 1995 Hamburg production a typo for 2005 or a different production? Sparafucil 11:40, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] formatting references
just thought you might find the following templates useful and helpful for including references into articles:
- template:cite news: newspapers, news organizations, etc.
- template:cite web: websites
- template:cite journal: magazines and journals

[edit] RFC:Conductor infoboxes
currently underway is an attempt by a just a few editors to prohibit the use of infoboxes in articles of all classical musicians. in my view, the manner in which the policy was adopted was just a bit underhanded, and skeevishly done. if you are at all interested keeping the infoboxes, please go here and join the discussion. if you would like to loose them...well...just ignore this message. cheers! --emerson7 01:55, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Edo de Waart
I am wondered why HKPO is not listed in the succession box. Edo is currently the music director and chief conductor of HKPO. (Addaick 11:09, 10 October 2007 (UTC))
- I see, thanks:) (Addaick 02:18, 12 October 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Contemporary music
Hi DJRafe, I wonder if you would be interested in joining the new WikiProject Contemporary music that I helped organize recently? You seem to be very knowledgeable about the subject. Best, --S.dedalus (talk) 04:02, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- No degree required. :) Many members of the project are amateurs or students like me. Wikiprojects like WikiProject Contemporary music are informal collaborations between editors. Project try to help standardize the articles within their scope (improving categorization, formatting, naming conventions, et.) and are a place where other users can seek help if a particular article requires expert attention. To join all you need to do is add your signature to this list and remove it if you leave. There are no “hours” required. You can contribute whenever and however you want. Hope to see you there! --S.dedalus (talk) 00:27, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Much thanks to your great contribution to Holiday Overture
The Original Barnstar | ||
I am delighted to see that you have made great edits to Holiday Overture. In addition, I am impressed by your tireless and enormous efforts to Wikipedia. I am here to award you the Orginial Branstar to you. Addaick (talk) 13:51, 9 April 2008 (UTC) |
PS: I am thinking about those list of instrumentation in Holiday Overture to be changed back to the nornmal form, ie: point-form or simply a sentence. Addaick (talk) 13:51, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Les Troyens
Hi there, we in opera project is trying to make the information as complete as possible, therefore the frame format has been standardized into almost all articles excpet for the some with lack of info. In the frame, we have list of roles + the singer. The frame format is the standard, if you have enough info for the rest, please add them on into the frame format. Thanks - Jay (talk) 01:46, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
