I am a lawyer, having lived in Berlin, Germany for about 10 years now. Previously I lived in Osnabrück, Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Freiburg. I'm in my 30's and a liberal Catholic (see also: paradox).

On Wikipedia, I contributed quite a lot to German history. My other interests include politics, music (jazz, progressive rock, classical), film, and architecture.

I guess nobody cares, but I believe I invented those funny "series" boxes that are really popular these days. Back then, I simply inserted them as raw HTML into the History of Germany articles. See this old version of "Weimar Republic", for example. Then people picked that up, and eventually, the boxes became a feature in the software.

I no longer have much time for working on Wikipedia, and to be honest, I also got tired of all the bickering. After spending hours and hours on improving articles that were just honestly crap and then seeing those edits removed without even an attempt at discussion, I decided that if my contributions are not needed, then I really shouldn't waste my time any more. I simply am not one to go into edit wars. I guess the contributors who have the most time for bickering are not necessarily the ones with quality contributions. As a lawyer, I can be right by definition, and I have decided that's much less stressful.

But I still use Wikipedia frequently and fix little things here and there occasionally, and I am proud to have contributed to the thing in its earlier stages, before it got really big.

This user page still has a few subpages for the really curious.

  • My work list shows the pages I used to work on. Until one day when I will have time to work on these again, this is terribly outdated.
  • My gallery shows all the pictures I have taken and donated. Some of them got replaced by now.
