[edit] Vandalism reverts

Hi there! I noticed you've deleted several edits, describing them as reverting vandalism. While the information you deleted is uncited and quite possibly not accurate, it is doesn't seem to fall under the category of vandalism. If you're going to remove it (which I don't really have a problem with), please don't mark it as a minor edit and a vandalism-revert. Users watching the articles involved might miss the edit because of the way it was described. Thanks! -- Steven Fisher 21:39, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edits of the Electronic sports page

I'm curious as to the reason for the reverts. Some of the sites are major, in relation to e-sports. I'm curious as to your reasons for the reverts. [1]

I anticipate your reply. Torinir ( Ding my phone My support calls E-Support Options ) 22:14, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Question

Let me first take the time to say that I appreciate your work and acceptance of professional gaming and that good editors like you will be needed to make pro gaming articles good, useful articles. My question is, what do you have against competitors having articles who compete mostly in MLG? I understand that you are from another country where knowledge of MLG in the general media is probably mostly non-existent, in the US, MLG is the most famous and notable pro sports league, and even non-gamers are familiar with the league. All that is required is being at the top of national competition, or otherwise NBA and NFL players wouldn't meet notability guidelines, either, and gaming should be treated just like any other sport and not have special guidelines that are restrictive. These articles have more than enough sources to become wonderful, useful articles that make Wikipedia a better place with them than without them, and that's how I judge whether or not an article belongs. If there's a league or players you would like to see in Wikipedia, as long as you source them, I will be completely acceptable of them, and will even help wherever I can. I hope we can come to an understanding on this. Thank you! J0lt C0la 03:09, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Re: Question

I'm not looking for an article on all the MLG players, just the more notable ones, the ones that have a major staying power and a myriad of sources to make a good article from. For example, Ogres 1 and 2 have been popular no matter which team they're on, Team 3D, STK, Final Boss, whatever. I'm not looking for an American view, I just feel that these can be included as well as notables from whatever other countries have notables. J0lt C0la 04:29, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding MLG players

Djith, you mentioned that you aren't on a crusade against the MLG players on Wikipedia, and told us to remember that Wikipedia represents a world view, not just an American view... however, there are 2 things I take issue with.

First is the way you comment on each AFD for MLG players with the exact same copy/paste response. This contributes nothing to the discussion, and such a blanket statement cannot cover the circumstances for every player nominated for deletion. In the comments you leave for AFD, you frequently say that the player fails WP:BIO because they haven't competed in any major competitions, but this is not the only requirement of WP:BIO. They receive substantial 3rd party media attention, and just because you might feel they're the MLG equivalent of Paris Hilton (manufactured fame), it doesn't mean they're not notable by our standards.

The other issue is that just because something is solely from an American perspective, that doesn't exclude it from the encyclopedia, it just means that non-American things should also be included. If you applied the same logic to other sports, athletes in America wouldn't be notable unless they are internationally recognized, which is obviously not the case. [edit] Looking for input

Hey there. Not too long ago, you were involved in the AfDs centering around Major League Gaming. I would appreciate some input as I believe there needs to be some sort of consensus on whether or not the notability of these players meets requirements for Wikipedia. Thanks. :: Colin Keigher (Talk) 04:51, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Re: Regarding MLG Players

Here is one example of an AFD where J0lt C0la assembled a more than ample list of sources to meet the notability standards outlined in WP:BIO. Even after this, you applied the same blanket reasoning for deletion of the article. If the MLG website and the USA Network's program are the only sources you say you've seen, you should read what others say in the applicable AFDs. Leebo86 14:36, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you

Thank you for adding yourself to the pro gaming WikiProject list. I was going to leave you a message alerting you to the page's creation, but you found it before I could even do that! I expect that you will add a lot of good work to the project. J0lt C0la 01:36, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Angel Munoz

I have noticed that you removed a section of the article regarding Angel Munoz entitled "controversy." Since I properly cited the article in which the incident was described and it is an article which cannot be refuted as it was written from discourse WITH Mr. Munoz, I would appreciate very greatly if you would please not edit it out since it does NOT violate any Wikipedia regulations. -- David Miller (Jan. 24, 14:18:15 UTC)

This 'controversy' mention makes no useful addition to the encyclopedic value of the article, so I don't think it's worthy to be in the article. Especially where there never was a true matter in this case that could be labelled as controversy. I will tag the section as pov-section instead. -- DJiTH 20:52, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
If you believe an event which led most everyone to not get paid for almost a year is not controversial, I'm not sure what I can do to convince you. As for the encyclopedic value, many articles on this site contain discussions as to the controversy of certain figures/events, just read the one on Abortion if you don't believe me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 151.198.141.56 (talk) 04:24, 25 January 2007 (UTC).
I still can't see what the controversy is here. If you're talking about the CXG event, Munoz was not involved in that, and I don't think random accusations by frustrated people account for 'controversy'. There is just no need to mention it. There is no benefit to the article. The only valid reference of the CPL (or a CPL partner) not paying out prize money is actually a case I myself am involved in: [2] -- DJiTH 14:36, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Coach

Str8 Rippin acquired Detach to coach them for the Las Vegas Nationals 2006.
Quoting an Interview with Team Str8 Rippin according to MLGpro.com:

MLG: For Vegas you opted to pick up Detach as a coach. How do you feel it went?

Anarchy: Detach was an amazing coach. He definitely helped us go in with good confidence. We went into the Carbon series ready for anything, and even xXx said he was a little scared. I was ready until it all fell apart. But Detach did a great job and we have Tom to thank for that.

Tsquared: Right, it went well. I think since it was his first time coaching there were a couple of mistakes that he made. If he were to coach us again we would make a vast improvement on both of our ends. We missed certain times on overshields. But overall he met the expectations of our team.

MLG: Are there plans to keep him as a coach for 2007 or is that a decision for later on?

Fonzi: He will probably be a player [on his own team] next season, so we will have to look for someone else. We have a few people in mind.

Anarchy: I would love for him to coach us again.

Tsquared: He still has the drive to be a top player, so we will see how it goes. If he is our coach it has to be a full, 100 percent commitment. He can’t be torn between coaching and playing.[1]

This is notable because it kind of gives an idea how significant Str8 Rippin's coach to his team. -- Arrashju

Please sign your comments with ~~~~. Significant to the team or not, it adds nothing to the encyclopedic value of the article. A mention in the history "on xxxx-xx-xx, team signed coach blahblah" with a reference to the interview should suffice. Remember that Wikipedia is not the place for a fansite. -- Laurens Hoek 13:25, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
