DJ Garth is a pioneering House music DJ who is largely credited with both defining and capturing the sound of San Francisco house music in the late 1990s. As a recording artist, his production is featured on several San Francisco club anthems such as "Twenty Minutes of Disco Glory". He co-founded the Wicked Sound system and established a series of memorable underground parties which were important in putting San Francisco on the club/rave map.

Born in England, Garth moved to San Francisco in the late 1980s and became immersed in the city's exploding dance scene. He helped organize the Full Moon events that led to increased underground interest in rave culture, and in 1991, he led the Wicked Sound System venture with friends and fellow DJs Jenö, Thomas and Markie. It was only after four years of hard work that the team saved enough money to buy proper equipment, along with a 1947 Greyhound bus which allowed the Full Moon act to tour.

The positive reaction to the tour boosted the quartet's confidence, and gave them enough credibility to produce original albums, as well as set up a recording studio and record label. Wicked Records' first (and most successful) release was DJ Garth's 1996 collaboration with E.T.I., "20 Minutes of Disco Glory," which remains a popular house track. It was featured in the soundtrack for the movie Groove.

By 1998, Garth was the only member of the Wicked label who was releasing solo material with regularity and consistency. Deciding to go solo, Garth founded his own label, Grayhound Recordings, named after the Wicked tour bus. Grayhound became the home label for Crosstown Traffic, Garth's collaboration with Rob Doten. The first single by Rocket, Garth's collaboration with Eric James of E.T.I, was also released under Grayhound. 1998 proved to be a milestone year for Garth, with the additional release of the popular mix CD, U.S. Underground, Vol. 1.

Around this time, Garth had begun to concentrate on Rocket as his main project. By 2000, his talents as a remixer were earning him acclaim, and collaborations with rappers A Tribe Called Quest and Perry Farrell were added to his stature. 2000 also saw the release of The Cisco System, a mix CD showcasing the work of Grayhound artists. Garth's success continued in 2001, when the San Francisco Sessions Vol. 3 mix was released, showcasing Garth's unique blend of House, Dub and other influences. Additionally, he continued to preside monthly at Come-Unity, thus setting the record for DJ'ing the longest-running house night in the U.S.A.
