Diwan

The term Diwan or Divan (دیوان) is a Persian word and can refer to:
- Divan or diwan, an oriental high governmental body, such as the Imperial council in the former Ottoman Empire and its successor states
- Divan (furniture), a kind of couch
- A box-spring or divan bed.
- Diwan (title) (dewan or divan), a number of Middle Eastern titles used in various languages for high officials, especially of cabinet rank, or as a rank of high nobility in South Asia
- Diwan/Diwanji (title), used in various Indian kingdoms in the medieaval and later medieaval ages to denote the highest officials in the court after the king; the suffix 'ji' is added as a mark of respect in India
- Diwan imperial enclosed courtyards/durbars of the Mughal kings of South Asia. For example, in the Red Fort in Delhi is the Diwan-i-aam (general courtyard) and the Diwan-i-khas (special courtyard)
