[edit] Page name and lost talk
Shouldn't the page be renamed "Glenn Milstead" or "Divine" or "Harris Glenn Milstead" instead of the (apparently mispelled) Glen Milstead? I don't know how to do that but I would if I could...
- Actually, there should already be a talk page for this article which explains why as I remember previous discussion and a subsequent move. Apparently it was deleted when the article was moved from what is now a redirect. Hyacinth 02:43, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Moving this article
If you're going to move this article can you please give reasons why it should be moved? I spent a week fixing up the redirects to the page only to have the article moved again. It's common courtesy if you're going to move a page that you should also correct the links that go with that page. Megan1967 05:52, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Tone of article
Please keep the tone neutral. In particular, talking about Milstead's hopes and aspirations is not very helpful. If he became accomplished as an actor, the reader can infer that this success was close to what he wanted. -- Pinktulip 06:19, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Age in the photo
How can he be prematurely grey at 43 when he died at 42?
[edit] Sudden Death
This article mentions that Milstead was to play Uncle Otto on the tv show Married With Children. However on the Wikipedia article for Married With Children, it mentions that Milstead was to play Peggy's mother. Is one incorrect or was he to play two characters?
[edit] The Little Mermaid...
I have removed this following passage until it is sourced:
- Besides these roles, Milstead was the inspiration for the appearance of Ursula, the half-octopus villain from Disney's 1989 animated movie The Little Mermaid.
I have never heard this and am not saying that there may not be truth to it, but it should be properly sourced before being included. ExRat 04:17, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- The design information was included, among other places, in an issue of People magazine published at around the same time as the movie was released. Including an interview with the charatcer designers acknowledging the influence.Otto4711 15:08, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
Actualy it is true and should be easily sourced.--Amadscientist 06:59, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Here is one source that took mere seconds to find;
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/reviews/?id=2164&p=.htm (It's towards the bottum)
. I have a pet peeve with people that remove sections without attempting to even look for sources....but thats just me.--Amadscientist 07:04, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re-write please
This article is in desperate need of a complete re-write. Research could help.--Amadscientist 07:10, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cause of Death
A New York Times biography states that Divine died of an enlarged heart, not sleep apnea. Divine was 42 when he/she died while preparing for a guest apperance on Fox TV's "Married...With Children".

- Agree - The NYTimes is a reliable source, so I've modified the cause of death section accordingly, using this biography as an inline citation. JGHowes talk - 14:49, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image for the article
Considering Divine is deceased, can't an image be used under fair use? It's not possible to create a totally free image now, and I really think this article could use a picture. --clpo13 02:56, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Name in article
Even though the article is titled "Divine," the name first given is Glenn Milstead. Divine was his persona. As such, I went through the article and replaced Divine with Milstead when the article was talking about the person, not the persona. Just so future editors know and don't think I have something against the name Divine or somesuch. --clpo13 07:40, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] "Actor"
What is the Wikipedia policy regarding the terms "actor" and "actress"? I'm all for using only "actor", but if "actress" is used it should be used here. This is the terminology drag queens use and it's a basic matter of respect.
- For most drag performers actress and she are used, because they consider themselves female. Milstead never considered himself to be a woman, if you ever saw him in interviews he was very emphatic about only playing one. Therefore we use actor and he. Blahmicho (talk) 16:36, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Actor Devine.JPG
Image:Actor Devine.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

- Comment - I've included a more detailed fair use rationale for Image:Actor Devine.JPG, but "The little mermaid DVD" source needs to be more specific, namely, which DVD and production company? Who is the copyright holder? I've left a note with the uploader, Nubula, on his talk page to have this needed info. provided. JGHowes talk - 14:32, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
