Dittsche

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dittsche: Das wirklich wahre Leben (The actual true life) is a German improvisation comedy television show starring Olli Dittrich and Jon Flemming Olsen. Olli Dittrich plays the unemployed Dittsche, who frequents a local fast food diner and converses with the proprietor about current events, drawing heavily on bizarre tabloid headlines to formulate perplexingly insane theories about their background. Schildkröte (German word for Turtle), a bar regular (played by Franz Jarnach), looks on mostly passively in the background.

The show is unscripted and is broadcasted live from a real fast food diner in Hamburg. One special feature of the show is the camera perspective, which changes in a fixed pattern and is digitally processed to mimic surveillance cameras. The show also features many celebrities from German TV and sports, who appear as customers of the diner.

In episode 11 of season 7 (May 2007) the show was set inside the Greek restaurant next door to the diner, because Dittsche got banned from the diner in episode 10 for breaking the glass of the diner's bar with a car jack. He got his ban lifted during episode 11 and the following episodes played again in the original diner.

In the final episode of season 8 Dittsche (December 2007) got arrested for counterfeiting. The next episode three months later was set in a prison cell. Dittsche was released after that episode and the show went on as usual. Ingo didn't know anything about Dittsche's prison stay (thought he was on vacation) until his cell mate visited the diner in April 2008.
