[edit] Article in need of cleanup - please assist if you can

[edit] Alana Grace

I remember that you helped with the initial editing and clean-up for this article (much appreciated - I lost some of my text, but the changes were necessary). This article has now been nominated for deletion, for reasons of notability. You can find the nomination and my counter-arguments at:

[1]

You might want to check in on this discussion, and add your views. Looking at the criteria, it may be a bit of a judgment call, but I think that the notability criteria should not exclude new and emerging artists. She has a record coming out in early 2007, and four of the songs on that CD have already received over 400,000 plays on MySpace.

Thanks again for your help on this article and on the Alexz Johnson article.

User:JD_Fan

That was fast! Thanks very much!

Can you nominate the article as a Good Article? Do you think it is Good article material? 65.213.44.9 00:47, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Another playboy breast list deletion debate

I notice that you were involved in the last deletion debate for this article. Have you seen this: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Playboy Playmates with D-cup or larger breasts. Interestingstuffadder 19:40, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Contesting Deletion of List_of_big-bust_models_and_performers

Hi, the article List_of_big-bust_models_and_performers appears to have been deleted despite consensus pointing to keep, thought I'd give you a heads up on it's request for undeletion at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review#List_of_big-bust_models_and_performers

[edit] Shanna Moakler

IP User 70.126.2.82 has refused to listen to both our requests for a citation relating to Shanna's ethnicity. She has reverted the article back several times. I have reported this user to Wikipedia. Can you post a message on that user's page requesting them to stop vandalizing the page if they can't cite sources.--XLR8TION 22:56, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re; Shanna Moakler

I have tried in vain to inform this editor about Wikipedia guidelines however he/she continues to disregard all e-mails and continue damage articles. I thought by receiving e-mail from more than one editor he/she will see the light and stop. I guess that didn't work. Many thanks for your effort and Happy Holidays!--XLR8TION 01:52, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Scout Taylor-Compton

thank you for your edits, this Lylith person keeps blanking sections. If you don't mind, I would like to copy some of your userboxes for my own use. I would like to change them. I'll look up the tutoral for making my own. Till then I would like to use two for three as templates. Thank you very much. Lyta79 12:33, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Birthdays

Hi. I posted a reply to your question on Wikipedia:Help desk. Xiner (talk, email) 03:29, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Scout

Yes, Scout was missing, that's a given, but the details in the newspaper article are incorrect. Those statements were from a rent a cop not the P.D., and well, we all know how the media misconstrues things. The general public does not know the details. I'm all about the truth, but what's been said isn't and it is not for anyone to discuss except Scout, when she is ready. I fail to understand why it needs to be posted, as it's not relevant to her career. As for her birth name, it has been changed legally to Scout, and the removal of her birthdate is for safety reasons. I ask that you consider how this non-truthful article is affecting Scout.

[edit] Re: 'Your response on Wikipedia:Help Desk'

OK, you win, my situation isn't quite as bad as that. I'm just forced to use a copy of IE6 that has a tendency to fail to send my edit to Wikipedia when I click 'Save page'; I find opening a new window, waiting for it to load, and then saving the original one is more likely to win. (The other alternative is using the secure.wikimedia.org link on my userpage, which even then doesn't guarantee that the edit will work but seems to increase the chances.) --ais523 09:29, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Michelle Manhart

Hey, Dismas - I read the rationale for reversion of my edit on the above page. I'm trying not to cross the line into original research here...would appreciate your advice on what would be a reliable citation for the info. You're probably right about blog commenters not being the best source for factual allegations - should I wait at least until some (semi-)reputable blog author writes about it?

FYI, a copy of the photo the Air Force deleted is apparently here. Not really citable, though - the caption is the same but I can't demonstrate any direct link without original research.

Cheers - RJASE1 05:11, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice - have a good one! - RJASE1 13:35, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jenna Haze

Hi

First of, thanks to review my links.

About the links I have added:

-Yahoo group: As in the Jenna Haze talk page say under the headline "Jenna's official fanclub":

"The guidelines state that it's appropriate to have a link to a fan site, and since http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Jenna_Haze has long been her official fanclub (where she posts), I think that one should stay. --Alsayid 05:12, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I wasn't sure about that, since it only said "Jenna Haze Fan Club" (it didn't mention anything about officiality, whatsoever). So, if it is official, then reinstate the link. Thanks, Alsayid. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loud 15:37, 6 February 2006 (UTC)"

This is the Official Fan Club of Jenna Haze, and if someone go there can read that in the main page of the Fan Group. Also, the membership is FREE.

-Her Official Website: I don't see why can't have a link to her Official Website in the External Links section too... it's something essential. Some other actresses have the link to her Official website in the two places; just look at Jenna_Jameson for example.

[edit] Your monobook is in Category:Wikipedia tools

Your monobook is in Category:Wikipedia tools. This is most likely because when you were copying scripts into yout monobook you accidentaly copied their category. Since your monobook is not a tool itself, please remove this category from it. If you intend for your monobook to be a tool, please consider creating a subpage with a more descriptive name, and moving the category there. [edit] Thanks Dismas

Thanks for restoring my question, I truly appreciate it. As I'm sure you're aware, I've gotten myself caught up in quite a mess lately concerning what I consider to be matters of principle regarding the true purpose of the RefDesk. I'm not sure what your motives were, but once again, I thank you.

Hey there. I noticed that in the past, you have participated in a discussion about Filmoraphies and lists of works in general here. There is now a RfC discussing this and more aspects here. It would be nice if you took a look and gave your comments on those matters. Thank you. theroachmanTC 11:08, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ted Cowan

Hi Dismas, thank you very much for your information so politely explained. There appears to have been a problem whereby my edits kept reverting after a couple of hours, so perhaps you have answered this also. I hadn't realised when contributing to the article it would prove to be somewhat less than straightforward. I have now asked an administrator to delete all my edits and My Talk Page and I shall leave it to others to contribute. Thanks Again..

[edit] Robin Quivers

Why do you think you can remove the robinswrong.com history from Robin Quivers page? Ask any Howard Stern fan and you find that the website is not only a part of her history, but Howard Stern lore already. The information about it not being included on her page is a travesty.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.97.54.242 (talkcontribs)

Show me where I removed anything about it and I'll be happy to discuss it with you. Dismas|(talk) 03:35, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Heather Marks" discussion page

hi, thanks for what you did with the Heather Marks article. Im not a web expert, i didnt spent time much with computers, and i dont have time to dig infos about how i can get rid off the tags in the discussion page, so i'd be very grateful if you would help. Oh yea, you were right, its not a message board. So thanks for deleting my stupid poem.

anyway, thanks.--ArtMicael 12:26, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sylvester Stallone

  • During filming Escape to Victory Pele broke his finger with a shot on goal.

Why did you remove this from Stalone's page ? Seems a bit random to vandalise in such a way, ho hum —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.34.68.186 (talkcontribs)

The upper part of the article was vandalism. The bit about Pele is simply not related to Stallone, thus I removed it. Dismas|(talk) 01:16, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why did you delete true facts about AMBER LYNN???? Here are some links to prove the facts...

http://www.canuxploitation.com/review/things.html

http://www.thevideograveyard.com/t/things89.html

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0183881/

Anyway, get back to me at barryjedmonton@yahoo.ca, and let me know why you deleted what was written, I am not going to put it there again until you tell me an explaination, or if you don't give me an explaination I'll see about taking other routes of putting down true information about Amber Lynn.

I'm not putting the info back, because you'll only delete it again...

Anyway, let me know what's up, because the facts that were recently added about Amber Lynn were all true, so tell me why you deleted the info?????

Thanks. I have followed your instructions re: TunaHAKI Foundation entry. I hope it is still available for review? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sfifer (talkcontribs)

[edit] TunaHAKI Foundation

Has this entry already been deleted? Can it be recovered and reconsidered? It is a new entry from the one deleted last year. Last year the Foundation was too new and didn't have independent sources of recognition, but this year it is widely recognized and worthy of an entry.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Sfifer (talkcontribs)

[edit] THUMBNAILS

i HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS process is supposed to work.

I want to ask about uploading thumbnails.

How do I ask?

Where's the 'submit' link?

What's going on?

Careyh 18:42, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I've replied on your talk page. Dismas|(talk) 18:46, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] thumbnails

Thanks.

The way I added a thumbnail to my page, using the editing function, now seems to have worked - it didn't show up on the saved page when I first saved the page (so I thought I'd written it in wrongly) - and now it does.

Suggestion: WARN PEOPLE OF THIS!

2nd suggestion: actually put in a link - 'upload images' doesn't get you there without a lot of further work - specifically to explain uploading a thumbnail, information on which takes a long time to ferret out, as does much on wikipedia that it doesn't seem to the founders to have prioritized among the 'help' requirements.

And, grateful as I am for your prompt response, heaven knows why the people who devised wikipedia couldn't have devised a HELP / TALK page with a 'submit' link LIKE ANY OTHER HELP / TALK function on a site, instead of expecting contributors to somehow intuit that writing a communication in a page edit box and clicking the 'save page' box would do it. Or maybe just for the hell of it you could find a way of making it even harder for beginners - even ones who plough through the help pages - to grasp.

Never mind. Thanks again for your willingness to help & quick response.

Careyh 18:55, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Just a couple comments:
By changing the style by which questions are posted to pages it breaks from the flow/feel of the site in general. It creates a "You do this one way on this page but to do a similar thing you do it an entirely different way on this page over here" sort of mentality.
Second, I'm not sure I understand the issue with uploading a photo. There is an "Upload file" link on the left hand side of each and every page here. As for putting that image into a page, yes you have to get the syntax correct. That is explained in the help pages, which considering the size of Wikipedia, I doubt that someone would be surprised that there are also a lot of help pages.
Any more questions, just ask! I'll be happy to help where I can. Dismas|(talk) 19:03, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bond merges

Yes, I had noticed the other pages. Is there some way one can stop this person? Wikipedia guidelines do say pages on minor fictional characters should be merged, but s/he is taking it way too far. I personally think the style "List of... [whatever]" is rather unencyclopaedic anyway. I suppose I could just expand all the individual characters' articles until the merged pages become indisputable candidates for splitting based on their size alone, but that would take rather a lot of effort! The news comes from Don Giller, via Jay Johnson of The Late Show. Don is the official unofficial archivist/historian and Jay is one of the online producers for the show, so even if it hasn't hit the MSM yet, it's official. 207.126.230.225 22:42, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Dsikula

[edit] AfD nomination of A Million Penguins

An editor has nominated A Million Penguins, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/A Million Penguins and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. [edit] Porn linkspam

Remember the problem we had with the linkspam we had to the porn star articles? I just saw some of the IP addresses from which the spam came from blocked because they were open proxies. Unfortunately I'm largely AFK this weekend so I can't do as much work on Wikipedia as I would like, but it might not be a bad idea if the remaining IP addresses from which the linkspam for the Rayveness and XXXena articles came from were to be listed at WP:OP, in hopes that they would also be blocked as open proxies. <G> Tabercil 23:49, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
