[edit] Proposed change

Before I jump in with both feet, does anyone have any particular objection to reshaping it like this (edit): Template:Discworld/temp --Phil | Talk 09:34, Jan 31, 2005 (UTC)

Looks good to me. No reference to the games, though? Jordi· 09:37, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I like it. Jeltz talk 09:50, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I like the original version better, but I created it, so I'm probably a bit biased. Honestly, though, I think it's easier to find things on the original. -Litefantastic 12:29, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)
It's easier to find things in the old one but I think that I prefer this more compressed style. Jeltz talk 15:00, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I've copied the background colour into the sub-header cells and lightened it up: does that help? I looked at the wikiproject but could find no handy list of games. --Phil | Talk 16:43, Jan 31, 2005 (UTC)

Could you do the same thing to the 'novels' section as you did to the YA section? I kinda like it. As for the games, I believe they were something like this:
The Colour of Magic, which was DOS based, I think.
Discworld, which was interactive to some degree
Discworld II, which was a sequel to the above, and
Discworld Noir
I got this off one of the linked-to sites, I think, a while back. I'm not sure it's right. There's also a DOS version of Cripple Mr. Onion, which is pretty fun - again, from a Pratchett fansite. -Litefantastic 00:07, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)
OK, how's that? I couldn't find the DOS version of CMO—the site seems to have dropped out—so I figured we could make the section cover allgames, not just computer-based --Phil | Talk 08:13, Feb 2, 2005 (UTC)

Made the novels section look consistant - looks good to me. violet/riga (t) 00:20, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I had rather assumed that label could be left out as a kind of default, and it also made a bit more room, but it doesn't look bad with it in. An alternative would be to find a little icon we could use in that spot, although after the hoo-raw over the A'Tuin picture maybe we should bide a wee while :-) --Phil | Talk 08:13, Feb 2, 2005 (UTC)

I've moved it into temp storage and added the MUD link. Is it nearly ready? --Phil | Talk 08:20, Feb 2, 2005 (UTC)

This new template works for me. I found the site that used to have the DOS CMO; I sent them an email asking where it went. -Litefantastic 01:24, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Shouldn't the games be under Discworld, rather than The Discworld? -Daibhid C 22:34 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Yep! Will do it when I get the chance (probably tomorrow). violet/riga (t) 23:12, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Done. HTH HAND --Phil | Talk 09:39, Mar 4, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Other books?

It just occurred to me, should we add the peripheral books? Maybe something like this:

Or maybe separate it out into Science of Discworld, Mappsand Other books? Daibhid C14:53 7th May 2005, UTC

  • Definately. I was considerng being bold and adding the Science of Discworld books there, anyway. Leave out the red links until an article is made for them, though. Sonic Mew | talk to me 17:04, July 14, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Temporary change

I have made a temporary change - namely to change the link to The Witches to plain text.

The reason is this: I have moved the sections from this article on Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, and Magrat Garlick to separate articles. I now need to see what links to Witches (Discworld) to make sure links to thse articles are corrected.

Of course with the link in the template all articles with the template link there. This action simply reduces the number of articles I have to wade through to check the links. When link checking is complete I will restore the link.

-=# Amos E Wolfe talk #=-

p.s. please let me know if there is an easier way of doing this!

Now reverted with link restored. Unfortunately due to the way the servers are set up, the "What links here" page for that article still listed everything that had previously linked to it via the template, even though the link was removed. Never mind.

  • Sorry to be pedantic, but Witches (Discworld) should be The Witches (Discworld) :/ Thought I'd tell you seeing as you're doing maintenance — CuaHL 20:04, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
    • I believe the current title is OK, as it refers to all witches mentioned on the Discworld rather than the group known as "the witches" -=# Amos E Wolfe talk #=-
      • Ahh so it does! My mistake. I thought the link was linking to a title of a book (which I htought was odd because I didn't know there was a book titled that). Scratch what I said, I'll be paying more attention from now on :D — CuaHL 23:12, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Gigantic

This "footer" fills an entire screen's worth of space on my browser and contains 101 links. Isn't this a little bit overkill? Actually, I consider it to be a lot bit overkill. I'm going to split it in two, since it's currently two footers smooshed together, and I suspect most of the articles that currently use this template will only need one or the other rather than both. Bryan 00:36, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

There, I've split off Template:Discworld books and ensured that all the articles listed in it have it transcluded. The rest of the articles using this template all appear to be on fictional characters, places, concepts, etc. from within the Discworld universe, so a list of novel titles aren't as important there. Bryan 01:08, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ysabell missing

I noticed that Ysabell was both missing as as a main character or minor character, so have added her in. Hope no one minds. She's the adopted daughter of Death and late mother of Susan Sto Helit. She's been in three of the books (see the article) and was one of the main characters of Mort. Dunno why she was forgotten. --Chaosfeary 22:35, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
