Talk:Dissidia: Final Fantasy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Untitled Comment
Just a note: I dont know if the title is Dissidia Final Fantasy or just Final Fantasy Dissidia - since almost all FF games have "Final Fantasy" first (except for Crisis Core: FF VII), so I created the article with that in mind, its just that the logo seems to say otherwise; that it might be Dissidia Final Fantasy.
In the Infobox, I wrote Amano as the illustration artist, I don't know for sure myself, its just that the style definitely looks like his, when comparing the logos for FFXIII and FFVXII. The only thing we know for sure is that Tetsuya Nomura is the Character Designer.

- There is Amano's signature the bottom right side of the illustration (under the guy who looks suspiciously like CHAOS. Kariteh 08:10, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
o yeah. lol know i see it. Miffy900 10:18, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- that was surely quick! i created an article with the exact wording as in the official teaser page's head. oh well :) it's definitely Dissidia as the main title. — Bluerです。 なにか? 18:45, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Warriors of Light, Kuja, etc.
"The game will reunite characters from other installments of the Final Fantasy series, including the Warriors of Light of the first game, Zidane Tribal and Kuja from Final Fantasy IX, as well as Garland (installment of origin not known yet). Chaos will make an appearance as the god of darkness, while a new character, Cosmos, will appear as the goddess of light."
Is there a reliable source for this? I have traced the information as far as here. The article offers no sources, so it could be the originator, or it could just omit mention. Do we really know this information is correct? It seems like a rumour to me.--Teggles 06:38, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
yea it seems just like wild speculation to me. but it kinda seems plausible - the CHaos guy in the logo really looks like him. Miffy900 07:20, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Shonen Jump begs to differ [1]. Kariteh 14:37, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, that's all was needed. Thanks :) --Teggles 19:11, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
The Garland in Dissidia is from the first Final Fantasy.--67.174.128.249 16:57, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, it was already confirmed, but thanks. Kariteh 17:52, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- I was just saying cause the first post in the section said it wasn't known which installment he was from.--67.174.128.249 22:44, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- No, it was already corrected by the time you posted. Kariteh 07:36, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it really Sephiroth, or did the reporter mistook Kuja as him, because initial screenshots have Zidane "duking it out" with Kuja. — Bluerです。 なにか? 09:35, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- The report mentions both Kuja and Sephiroth. Zidane fights Kuja and Cecil fights Sephiroth apparently. Kariteh 10:45, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- The report by IGN is the only one to state Cecil and Kain being in this. To the untrainted (And IGN is horribly innacurate) eye, Garland and Light Warriar are extremely easy to mistake for Cecil and Kaine. Until an actual screenshot of Kain and Cecil are shown, I would call for removing their names from the main artical. I'm definetly doing this myself one way or other. IGN is unreliable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChipNoir (talk • contribs) 04:23, 14 May 2007

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Dff screenshot 002.jpg
Image:Dff screenshot 002.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Genre
The genre is given as "action game" here, but from all screenshots and video I've seen, it seems to be a versus fighter. Is there any evidence to back up either genre? The S 07:44, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- The official Japanese site says it's genre is ドラマティック プログレッシブ アクション (Dramatic Progressive Action). WtW-Suzaku 23:05, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Squall?
When was Squall comfrimed? SuperSaiyanCrash 2nd October 19:00 (UTC)
- TGS, along with Frioniel / Firion. WtW-Suzaku 23:05, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Great! both of them are cool. any new scans about them? or sites with decent source please WizzieBlue 02:42, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Any new characters?
We haven't got any more news yet but will characters like Cloud, Tidus or Vaan made it? SuperSaiyanCrash 17: 21, 31st October 2007 (UTC)
- I have a feeling Geno will be in. May explain why he's not in Brawl. 153.42.168.174 (talk) 18:30, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] date
the dissida website has a date on it but i can not read japanese can someone tell me what it says —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.135.32.236 (talk) 11:01, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's basically an advertisement to the Dissidia game corner at Square Enix's booth they're opening at the Jump Fiesta 2008. — Blue。 12:52, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] New Characters?
From what I've seen, Amano has done sketches for Dissidia with some confirmed villains.
Villains: Garland (FF) Mateus (FF2) Cloud of Darkness (FF3) Ex-Death (FF5) Kefka (FF6) Sephiroth (FF7) Ultimecia (FF8) Kuja (FF9) Unknown (Seems like Jecht from FF10)
Source: http://r-amano.cocolog-nifty.com/kumaud/2007/05/post_0230.html
Also, it seems Tidus has been confirmed in the new trailer at Jump Festa, according to http://ff7ac.hotcafe.to/ DarkRyan75 (talk) 03:56, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Edea
I heard somewhere that Edea from Final Fantasy VIII had been confirmed but it wasn't an official site so I was wondering if anybody else had a source that might confirm this. Also I haven't heard anything of Ultimecia being confirmed and I didn't see a source in the article, can anybody confirm this too?--67.174.128.249 (talk) 17:02, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Ultimecia is confirmed. Scans released recently shows her fighting with Squall. And I don't think Edea will ever appear as a villain counterpart. WizzieBlue (talk) 01:14, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Alright thanks, it's probably just cause it's a fan site that I heard about Edea from, it's usually accurate so I thought I'd mention it.--67.174.128.249 (talk) 20:35, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tidus?
Does anyone have evidence that Tidus was confrimed? SuperSaiyanCrash 8:13 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah is there already any screenshots or scans available about him? I thought people mistook Emperor Palamecia for him due to his hair but I can't be so sure. oh well we'll have to wait. WizzieBlue (talk) 13:49, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- He was confirmed by numerous people who attended Jump Festa 2008, pretty much every Japanese website that reported on the game mentioned him being in the new trailer. WtW-Suzaku (talk) 13:00, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Poster of the Villains / Table for Characters section
Doubt anyone realized this, but there was a big Yoshitaka Amano poster illustration back at the Square-Enix Party 2007, and it was apparantly also at Jump Festa 2008.
Photographs of individual villains, with artwork/screenshots to confirm their identities, are here: http://r-amano.cocolog-nifty.com/kumaud/2007/05/post_0230.html
In order, the villains depicted are: FF3's The Cloud of Darkness, FF8's Ultimecia, FF2's Palamecia, FF's Golbez, FF6's Kefka, FF5's Exdeath, FF7's Sephiroth, and FF10's Jecht. No photograph was taken of the FF4 villain, or any villains for FF11 or 12.
With this knowledge, I propose we place a table in the characters section, rather than listing the characters as they are now. If you don't wish to include the villains depicted in the poster for lack of more credible sources (IE Famitsu or V-Jump, or whatever), then they can be excluded.
Something like this:
Title | Hero | Villain |
---|---|---|
Final Fantasy | Warrior of Light | Garland |
Final Fantasy II | Firion | Emperor Palamecia |
Final Fantasy III | Cloud of Darkness | |
Final Fantasy V | Exdeath | |
Final Fantasy VI | Kefka | |
Final Fantasy VII | Sephiroth | |
Final Fantasy VIII | Squall Leonhart | Ultimecia |
Final Fantasy IX | Zidane Tribal | Kuja |
Final Fantasy X | Tidus | Jecht |
Or, for the time being:
Title | Hero | Villain |
---|---|---|
Final Fantasy | Warrior of Light | Garland |
Final Fantasy II | Firion | Emperor Palamecia |
Final Fantasy VII | Sephiroth | |
Final Fantasy VIII | Squall Leonhart | Ultimecia |
Final Fantasy IX | Zidane Tribal | Kuja |
Final Fantasy X | Tidus | Jecht |
I think it would be prudent to at least format it with the latter, if that blog post isn't good enough a referance for the various villains. WtW-Suzaku (talk) 13:00, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'm liking this idea already. But I'd go with the latter table. As usual, verifiability. With only one published source it's pretty hard to let it stay per WP policies and whatnot. But I like this idea. — Blue。 13:05, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Seriously. Why would they make a poster of all the bad guys who are NOT in the game? Those characters are going to be in it, so why did people get rid of the info that was put here?--Kamiccolo33 (talk) 10:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Because of its speculative nature. The way I see it, information in Wikipedia must be Verifiable. The information we have is not solid enough, with only one snapshot of the poster and nothing else confirmed by Square Enix. See also the Reliable Sources required by Wikipedia. — Blue。 11:59, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Cloud?
Hey since Sephiroth is the villian, does that means maybe Cloud will be comfrimed? Because it is likely. SuperSaiyanCrash 12:56 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- Likely and Confirmed are two completely different things. WtW-Suzaku (talk) 15:13, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Seems they're making Cloud's appearance a surprise or something? WizzieBlue (talk) 09:48, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Editable skills?
I've heard of the selecting of skills as well as equipment on the internet too. Is this true?
- Please sign your comments. From what I understand the skills aren't "editable", but rather, characters have at least two different movesets, which players can choose between. Demo reports, I believe, have indeed confirmed that characters have changeable equipment, and will also earn gil and experience after battles, though these features weren't explorable in the demos, so their functionality and purpose is yet to be seen. Unfortunately, I don't have any links handy, as it's been quite some time since Jump Festa. WtW-Suzaku (talk) 12:58, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
