For those interested, the original manuscript has about 10-15 pages worth of mathematical derivation in which Clausius derives the second law by letting: Z be the disgregation of the body, and dZ an infinitely small change of it, and let dL be the corresponding infinitely small quantity of work, we can then put: dL = KTdZ; where where K is a constant depending on the unit, hitherto left undetermined, according to which Z is to be measured.
