[edit] Linking
I really don't think we need to link to every place - most are mentioned only in a single paragraph in a single book and hence will never deserve a wikipedia article. Any that recieve more attention, and/or articles can be linked to as and when an article is made.
Also linking to every possible place name leads to erronious links - try looking at the articles for Brindisi, Razorback and Rigour. --Neo 19:23, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Additional text on The Chalk
I rejected an article-for-creation for The Chalk because it exists here. Any Discworld readers who care to integrate its text with the existing article can find it here. Be sure to give GFDL credit to 64.106.121.59 if you use anything verbatim. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:15, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Reference to the fall of the Soviet Union.
Previous comment about fall of the Soviet Union was well observed, but the suggestion that an area whose name translates directly to Transylvania being instead "far more likely" to represent Russia is essentially wrong. Do not forget that the Eastern-European states including the region of Transylvania were themselves Soviet sattelite states. So, while the break-up of states around Uberwald is certainly a reference to the fragmentation of the USSR, Uberwald itself should in no sense be taken as representing Russia. [edit] The Ramtops and its name origin, citation needed
The statement "The name derives from RAMTOP, a system variable in the ZX Spectrum computer" has been marked with a 'citation needed' flag. Would it be enough to post an external link to a Sinclair ZX Spectrum page documenting the use of the word RAMTOP to meet this criteria, or does it have to be a a link to a page documenting that Pratchett in fact has confirmed this to be true?
