[edit] Least used

I wonder which are the least used Merit Badges? (unsigned by 24.214.192.86)

The ones on this list are discontinued. They are here because BSA to split a mb apart, merge it with others, or the mb was little used. See Merit badge (Boy Scouts of America) for a current mb listing. Of current ones, things like Astronomy, Pulp and Paper, etc are little used. Rlevse 13:12, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Thanks badge

  • At the risk of invoking the wrath of Godwin, I wonder if the "Thanks" badge can be mentioned? It might be a relevent footnote regarding the use and misuse of symbols.--Anansi133 02:50, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks Badge

This is a badge, but not a merit badge of the BSA. There is a distinct difference. Also, the link you show is from the UK, not America. Rlevse 03:18, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rock Lifting

The list of discontinued badges includes a badge called Rock Lifting, apparently in use from 1997 to 2004. I was an active Scout during that time and can consequently say that no such badge existed; furthermore, it is not on the list at the link referenced at the bottom.VandySOG 08:21, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, that was a vandal and it's been reported. Rlevse 11:25, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stalker/Stalking?

is this for real? if so what is it? -- paul

It was a MB in early days of Scouting, that was for Scouts learning to stalk animals in the woods. It did not include hunting or harming the animals. Rlevse 02:37, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Attention tag

Need to finish moving MBs into table. Rlevse 11:29, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Signalling

There is an error in the article:

Signaller 1910 Replaced by Signalling in 1911
Signalling 1911 Replaced Signaller in 1991
--Jagz 16:46, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

According to "Merit Badge Field Guide" by Fred Duersch, it's always been Signalling. In addition to that, consensus is that never made patches, though they had paper designs, for the original 14 MBs they conceived in 1910. It wasn't until 1911 that they started issuing the 57 different patches. See my Featured Article History of merit badges (Boy Scouts of America). Rlevse 00:33, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Metal engr.png

Image:Metal engr.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:10, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Farm badges

Farm Records, replaced by Farm and Ranch Management, replaced by Farm Records? --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 18:34, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Per "Merit Badge Field Guide", pages 29-32...
Farm Records and Bookeeping (1928-1958), became Farm Records (1959-1979), which was merged into Farm and Ranch Management in 1979

(1979-1987) along with...

Farm Arrangement (1960-1973), became Farm Arrangements (1974-1979), which was ALSO merged into Farm and Ranch Management in 1979

OK, but that is not what is in the article right now. --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 21:49, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
