District registry

A District Registry can mean one of the following in England and Wales:

  1. "Part of the High Court situated in various districts of England and Wales dealing with High Court family and civil business. District Registries are often co-located at County Courts." [1]
  2. An office for land registration purposes under The Land Registration (District Registries) Order 1987. [2]
  3. An office where a person files or registers such civil matters as births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships.[3] The registrar of this third type of District Registry also performs civil marriage ceremonies, civil partnership registration, naming ceremonies and renewal of marriage vows ceremonies.[3]
  4. A Probate District Registry deals with applications for probate of a last will and testament.[4]
