Dissacus was a genus of primitive, jackal to coyote-sized mesonychids that originated in Asia during the Middle Paleocene. By the Late Paleocene, species had spread to North America, and Europe. Fossil material from Europe suggests that Dissacus may have been digitigrade like later relatives such as Sinonyx and Pachyaena. The bear-sized Ankalagon is closely related to Dissacus, being regarded as a sister or daughter genus.
