Diss railway station serves the town of Diss in Norfolk, England. The station is on the Great Eastern Main Line 32 km (20 miles) south of Norwich towards London Liverpool Street. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by National Express East Anglia. There were formerly a number of stations between Diss and Norwich, but these were all shut during the Beeching Axe in favour of speedier journey times. It was once between Burston and Mellis on the Great Eastern Main Line.
[edit] Service Patterns
The typical Monday-Saturday off-peak service from Diss is:
- 2 trains per hour (tph) to London Liverpool Street, of which:
- 1 tph calls at Stowmarket, Ipswich, Manningtree, Colchester (North) and Shenfield (to set down only)
- 1 tph calls at Ipswich, then runs as above to Colchester, then calls at Chelmsford and Stratford (to set down only)
- 2 tph to Norwich
On Sundays this is reduced to one train per hour in each direction. Trains for London follow the first format described above (calling at Stowmarket and Shenfield, not at Chelmsford and Stratford).
