- The Nightmare Before Christmas - original idea by Tim Burton, pun on the title of the poem Twas the Night Before Christmas.
- Atlantis: The Lost Empire - partly inspired by the legendary Atlantis, while some believe it to be based on the anime show Nadia: the Secret of the Water.
- Brother Bear - primarily inspired by Native American and Inuit legends and myths.
