Wide World of Sports Resort Area

Disney's Pop Century Resort is a resort at the Walt Disney World Resort. It is one of four hotels that make up the "value resort" group, along with the Disney's All-Star Sports Resort, Disney's All-Star Movies Resort, and Disney's All-Star Music Resort. The hotel is themed around different decades in American pop culture. Much like the other resorts within the value category, there are supersized versions of various items built around the hotel. Each themed area features motel-style buildings adorned in gigantic (3 meters+) phrases and iconography of the particular decade being represented. The resort has 2,880 rooms in ten separate buildings, three pool areas and one central area that houses the front desk, gift shop, arcade and food court. The buildings are four story versions of the three story All-Star Resort buildings.

Disney's Pop Century Resort has a variety of shopping and dining locations, including the following:

[edit] Everything Pop

Everything Pop is both the food court and the gift shop for the resort. The gift shop has merchandise based on the time era (the 1950s-1990s). The food court has different restaurants that have different meals depending on the restaurant. Mugs can be purchased & can be refilled free of charge for the rest of your stay at the resort. Pizza delivery services are available upon request.[1][2]

[edit] Grab-N-Go Market

The Grab-N-Go Market is located in the left corner of Everything Pop. The market offers foods that can be carried into the theme parks, such as water, muffins, sandwiches, etc.

[edit] Classic Concoctions

Classic Concoctions is a bar in Everything Pop. It is located in the gift shop section of the store, and offers a variety of drinks that are not available with meals. This bar has now closed, but there are recent rumors that this will be converted into an area to pick up and send packages.

[edit] Petals Pool Bar

Petals is a bar located near the Hippy-Dippy Pool in the 1960s themed area (which is near the Classic Hall lobby). Drinks may be purchased at the bar.

[edit] Legendary Years

The second phase of construction for the resort is the Legendary Years - 1900-1940. This part of the resort resides across the Hourglass Lake, and is connected by the Generation Gap Bridge. Its construction was halted after 9/11 due to the reduction in tourism. As of Summer 2006, the "Legendary Hall" building and a few of the units have been constructed but are not finished. The buildings can be seen on the right hand side of the entrance to Pop Century.

Initially the completed resort was to have an additional 2,880 rooms on the "Legendary" side, configured identically to the "Classic" side. However, as of April 10, 2006, the MousePlanet website has confirmed that these rooms will instead be configured as family suites, identical to those now available at Disney's All-Star Music Resort, with a separate master bedroom, two bathrooms and a kitchenette. In Summer 2007, some "hammering" noises could be heard and various Disney security vehicles could be spotted on the Legendary Years Lot, although there is no physical evidence that continuing construction is going on.

A few of the pop icons to represent these decades have already been revealed by the shape of the swimming pools in the design plans. The pool in the 1940s section is to be shaped like a highway sign, suggesting a "Route 66" motif. The pool in the 1930s will resemble a soda bottle, and the 1910s pool forms the outline of a Monopoly game board.

[edit] Disney Transport

Approximately every 20 minutes, Disney Transport buses stop at the resort for guests who need a ride to get to the theme parks, water parks, the Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, and Downtown Disney. These Disney buses are especially for the Pop Century Resort, with almost no stops between destinations.
