[edit] Spin-off and restructuring

On December 13, 2007, Discovery Holdings announced that it plans combine Discovery Communications with Advance/Newhouse Communications into a new holding company [7]. The new company will operate under the name Discovery Communciations. The company expects the new stock to begin selling in the third quarter of 2008 [8]. As a part of the plan, Discovery Holdings will spin-off its remaining Ascent Media business to share holders in a separate IPO.
