The Discover Hartford Bicycling and Walking Tour, Discover Hartford Tour, or Hartford Tour refers to an annual ride organized by the 501.c.3 [charitable organization] the Central Connecticut Bicycle Alliance (CCBA) in Hartford, CT.
The primary purpose of the ride is to promote cycling advocacy and non-vehicular transportation both regionally in Central Connecticut and statewide. In addition the tour has secondary purposes of improving urban health, providing stimulating recreation, preventing suburban sprawl, and raising awareness about global climate change. The tour also partners with non-profit and charitable organizations in Hartford to promote the ride as part of a larger cooperative community.
The tour includes 10 & 25 mile bicycling options and a 2-hour walking tour option. The ride begins at Hartford's Bushnell Park. The number of participants in the bike tour is capped at 4,000 to preserve the integrity and experience of a family friendly bicycle tour. The walking tour is capped at 400 participants for the same reason. The goal of the inaugural 2007 tour is 2,000 participants.
