[edit] Initial improvement suggestions

I just wrote the article. It's barely a draft, but it's better than nothing (and I think it's the first article I've actually started, at least one that contains moderate depth!). In any case, there's a LOT of room for improvement, and I've put a few of the biggest needs in the To Do list above. One other one that I should mention is that I wikilinked to timetable, but the timetable that's described at that article isn't the one that railroaders refer to. (I just finally put two and two together and figured out why it's called a timetable when it doesn't list any times--I read a fascinating overview of train orders at this site. My guess is in the olden days, when train orders were used, the timetable actually DID have times in it, as it was the authority for times and train superiority in those pre-radio days. But I digress.

Anyway, I'll try to make improvements as my sleep conditions improve and as I think of things, but I hope this is becomes a useful and informative article!

[edit] Diagrams

I have contacted Carsen Lundsten to see if he will let us use some of his diagrams (see this page). He said he would need a few days to look at the article and decide. (I also invited him to make any changes he felt appropriate to the article). This was some weeks ago, and he has not yet responded. I'm hesitant to email him again and be a nag, but if someone else thinks any of his diagrams would add value, please feel free to contact him and second my request. (I also tried to give him a little info on releasing the image under the GFDL and uploading it.) cluth 00:12, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
