Dirty thirty (Vietnam)

The first American GIs to take an official role in the the War in Vietnam were a group of pilots called the dirty thirty.[1]

Other GIs had survived in Vietnam, and had participated in combat operations.[1] But, officially, they wre just classed as "advisors", not combatants.
