'Rasmichoti' is not a middle name or a family name. It is a part of his first name, so we cannot just omit that. CW32 13:47, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

Move from Tipangkorn Rasmichoti to Prince Tipangkorn Rasmichoti? (the vote was started 22 July 2005 13:33 and ended by Violetriga 23 July 2005, around 25 hours after the start of the vote)

• support move, as User:Arrigo simply moved the article´s original name without posting a discussion on it first, as well User:Ahoerstemeier. this was in clear violation of Wikipedia policy. as there are no clear rules regarding the naming of Thai royals (female and male), propose to restore the original name until proper consensus can be found, without anyone steamrolling over the other. thank you. 1. Oppose proposed move. Princely title unnecessary for any encyclopedic purpose (such as disambiguation). Spirit of naming conventions do not require princely title to be used in heading here. Simplicity in headings is desirable. (If a reader already knows so much about Tipangkorn Rasmichoti that the reader knows he is a prince, why the reader even comes here? Explanations what someone/something IS belomgs to the text of the article, not to the heading.) Arrigo 20:45, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

This article represents now a good result of naming Thai royals, and should be used as example to articles on other Thai royals too. Titles and "of Thailand" are not usually needed, thus they can be stripped away. Arrigo 20:52, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

This argument is going on simultaneously at a number of articles about members of the Thai royal family. The priciple involved is that Thais (all 40 million of them) find the use of unadorned personal names for members of the royal family very offensive, and I and other users with some knowledge of Thailand (I am there now) believe that Wikipedia should take this into account. We don't do this for other royals by the way - do we have an article for Elizabeth Windsor? This article should revert to Prince Tipangkorn Rasmichoti. Adam 05:02, 23 July 2005 (UTC)
