Dion's is a pizza chain in New Mexico with 9 restaurants in the Albuquerque area, and one each in Rio Rancho, Santa Fe, Los Lunas, and Las Cruces. [1]

Dion's was founded in 1978 by Jon Patten and Bill Scott when they bought a small pizza restaurant intending to turn it into a Greek restaurant. Before their equipment arrived the previous owner taught them how to make pizza. The demand for the pizza led the two to create their own pizza recipe which is still used today.[2]

Nineteen months after the first location opened, the Albuquerque Tribune named Dion's "second best pizza in town." Since then, Dion's has received a "Best Pizza" award from the Albuquerque Journal, the Albuquerque Tribune, television's PM magazine, and the Albuquerque Monthly Magazine. [3]

Dion's considers itself a family-oriented business and gives many opportunities to its employees, most of whom are are of high school or college age, The company had 12 employees in 1979. now it has over 800.[4]

Dion's sells whole pizzas, pizza by the slice,pizza-kits (to make your own pizza at home), sub sandwiches, and salads.

Dion's is currently getting ready to break ground on a 14th store in Lubbock, Texas and it is expected to get started in January/February 2008[5].
