The following facts in the article are incorrect or need to be substantiated:
- "Boer farmers from the districts of Utrecht and Vryheid" - the town Vryheid was formed only after the Bores assisted Dinuzulu in his leadership contest and the district of Vryheid was formed when the "New Republic", which was formed on the land that was granted to the Boers, was incorporated into the South African Republic (Transvaal / ZAR)
- Although Louis Botha was indeed involved in these battles, he did not lead the Boer forces - Lucas Meyer was the leader of the Boer forces.
