[edit] Career
He started his English career with Doncaster Rovers in August 1998.[1] He made 39 appearances and scored 10 goals for the club, before joining Southport in July 2000.[1] He made 25 appearances and scored five goals for them.[1] He joined Leigh RMI in August 2001, where he made 58 appearances and scored 26 goals.[1] He joined Stevenage Borough for a five-figure fee in February 2003.[2] After making 10 appearances and scoring five goals,[1] he joined Charleston Battery in the USL First Division,[3] where he made nine appearances and scored five goals.[4] He rejoined Stevenage Borough in September 2003 after receiving international clearance.[3] During this spell with the club, he made 91 appearances and scored 30 goals.[1] He rejoined Southport in July 2006.[1] Rushden & Diamonds manager Graham Westley wanted to sign Maamria in December 2006,[5] and Southport denied having received an official approach from Rushden for him.[6] Southport said they wanted an improved offer from Rushden if they were to let Maamria leave.[7] After making 17 appearances and scoring six goals with Southport,[1] he joined Rushden on an 18 month-deal on a free transfer in January.[8] He joined Northwich Victoria in August 2007 and later became the club's caretaker manager.[9][10] Northwich's prospective new owners said they wanted to make him the club's permament manger on their takeover was complete. [11] Following the completion of their takeover, he was confirmed as the club's permament manager, and saved the club from relegation in April 2008..[12]
