Dinesh Jivani is a fictional character on the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street and played by Amin Sheikh. Dinesh worked as a registrar for Justine Jones at Shortland Street Hospital. He was betrothed to Shanti Kumari. However Shanti is in love with James Scott, and for a short had broken up and Dinesh tried to get closer to her. Dinesh and Shanti had a brief relationship which ended when he was dumped. Dinesh returned to India but before doing so had altered part of Scotty's speech to embarass Shanti's aunt - the truth exposed the Kumari family wanted nothing more to do with the Jivaris.
