Dimitris Kontopoulos is a Greek music composer born on November 9th, 1971 in Athens to a family of ship owners. After graduating from Ziridis school he continued his studies in film scoring in Los Angeles in USC. He has been involved professionally in music since 2000. Since then, Dimitris Kontopoulos has composed songs for more than 35 albums, out of which 16 have gone gold and platinum. He has won several national awards and in 2008 he participates as a composer in the Greek national final for the Eurovision Song Contest for the fourth time.

Dimitris' first try was back in 2003 with the song "Mia stigmi" sang by Giannis Vardis. Though the entry never won the national final, it remained in the charts for 11 weeks. Kontopoulos tried his luck again for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 but with Russia this time and the song "Shadows" by Anastasia Stotskaya. The entry placed third on the national final score board.

In 2006, with Greece hosting the event after Elena Paparizou's victory with the song "My number one" produced by Dimitris Kontopoulos, he tried once more to take part in the Greek final as a composer for Anna Vissi. That year, the Greek audience was to select among three songs, one of which ("Welcome to the party") was written by Kontopoulos. Having taken a break in 2007, Dimitris returns once again as a composer with a dance pop song "Always & forever" sang by Kostas Martakis.

In private life Dimitris Kontopoulos is married and has two children. He avoids public appearances, doesn't talk often, nor gives interviews and dislikes being recognized stating that celebrity life kills privacy.
