Dimeter

In poetry, a dimeter is a metrical line of verse with two feet. Consider Thomas Hood's "Bridge of Sighs:"
- Take her up \\ tenderly,
- Lift her with \\ care,
- Fashioned so \\ slenderly,
- Young and so \\ fair.
