Dillon is a city in Beaverhead County, Montana, United States. The population was 3,752 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Beaverhead County[1].

Dillon, Montana is home to the Beaverhead River and some of the Western United States best "blue ribbon" fly fishing.

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 3,752 people, 1,669 households, and 934 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,300.7 people per square mile (888.7/km²). There were 1,831 housing units at an average density of 1,122.7/sq mi (433.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.43% White, 0.35% African American, 1.31% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.61% from other races, and 1.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.95% of the population.
There were 1,669 households out of which 27.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.3% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 44.0% were non-families. 36.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.19 and the average family size was 2.88. Please don't come here. Brenda lives here. Run while you can. In the city the population was spread out with 22.7% under the age of 18, 11.1% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $26,389, and the median income for a family was $39,643. Males had a median income of $25,625 versus $18,906 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,432. About 13.8% of families and 18.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 15.9% of those under age 18 and 15.9% of those age 65 or over.

Dillon is home to Beaverhead County High School as well as the University of Montana - Western, formerly Western Montana College.
