[edit] History

Diliman Preparatory School was founded in 1969 by a group of educators from the University of the Philippines- Diliman who possessed not only an ardent passion for education and teaching but also a genuine love for children.

Prof. Alicia M. L. Coseteng, a retired Associate Professor, was founding President and Chairman of the Board. Mrs. Felisa C. Generoso, also from UP, though a retired UP Elementary principal, was the first grade school principal, while Dr. Irma R. Apelo was the first school physician as well as treasurer of the corporation which ran the school. They shared the same vision of initially putting up a school that would provide a sound basic education in the elementary level.

In July 1969, the Grade School department first opened the doors of its one-storey building housing 10 classrooms offering classes in Nursery, Kindergarten and Grade 1-5 levels.

From its humble beginnings, the school now has two four-storey buildings housing 1,512 students. The curriculum was strengthened by its Five-Year Development Program in line with the Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) of the Department of Education.

[edit] Philosophy

Diliman Preparatory School has always been guided by the philosophy that education is the basic molding force in the development of an individual’s personality and mental faculties. This means that education is the underlying, if not the strongest, influence in the development of a happy, useful, disciplined, creative and productive individual.

[edit] Vision

To be an institution that forms the foundation for the Filipino youth to excel in their chosen field, to become well-rounded, globally competitive, responsible, God-loving citizens and develop into committed and dynamic leaders of community and nation.

[edit] Mission

For the Filipino youth, we dedicate our time, talents, treasures, and values, to awaken the joy and love of learning, develop their full potentials, and guide them towards becoming productive citizens, who will be the pride of their family, nation, and humanity.

[edit] Facilities

The school boasts modern learning facilities like the Speech Room, AVR, Auditorium, Libraries, and 2 Gyms (Open and Closed). It also has mini gardens and fountains for a relaxed, educating environment. The school has acquired numerous sculpted benches made of driftwood, to beautify and make the school an interesting place to study. A Business Center inside was established to cater with the needs of its faculty and students.

[edit] Management

The school is backed by the Diliman Educational Corporation, which is headed by Sen. Nikki Coseteng and Mrs. Ofelia R. Angangco, as President and Chairman of the Board, respectively. Numerous changes have been undertaken since Sen. Nikki Coseteng took over the leadership in the school, from its facilities to its curriculum.

[edit] Security

Security in the school is 24/7 and safety is one of the schools utmost concern for its constituents. Last year, a bomb threat scared the whole school when a mysterious caller said that he planted a bomb somewhere inside. [2] After the incident, the school ordered double security among its security personnel who were in charge of its premises' safety.
