Usage

Parameters

Digimon episode parameters (and basic guidelines)
image A screen shot that represents that episode, and if possible, is specific to that episode. All images are automatically re-sized to 125px. You do not need to include "" after the file name, as this is already done for you. For example, you'd usally type to include an image on an article, but here you only need Digimon Adventure ep16.jpg

Before uploading a new image, first check Category:Digimon media to see if an usable image has already been uploaded. If not, you may upload your own screen shot as Fair use. Image sizes should be max'ed at 375x280, but no less than 125x94. When adding an image please indicate under the Licensing pop-up menu that it is a "TV screenshot", say which series and episode it is in the Summary (for example "This is a screenshot from Digimon Adventure episode 16"). File names, if possible, should follow the format Digimon_Series_ep00.jpg (for example, Digimon_Adventure_ep16.jpg). If you did not create the screenshot yourself then state the last URL or source where you got it from. Then place Digimonimage in the description to add additional copyright information and to list it in Category:Digimon media.

Remember you must make a fair use rationale statement in the image summary as well! See Wikipedia:Image description page#Fair use rationale. For an example see Image:Digimon Tamers ep01.jpg

EnglishTitle The title of the episode in the English version. Most, if not all, of these titles should already be included (with the exception of Digimon Savers). The title will appear bold and in "quotes" when rendered, so it is not necessary to place them in quotes before hand.
JapaneseTitle The title of the episode in Japanese. It will be listed below the English title (if available) and be presented in italics and in "quotes". (note: if no EnglishTitle is present, as with Digimon Savers, then the JapaneseTitle will appear in bold instead of italics)
KanjiTitle The title of the episode in Kanji, such as "漂流? 冒険の島". Note that not all browsers properly display Kanji. This is presented after the Japanese title in (parenthesis)
OriginalAirDate This is the date the episode first aired on TV in Japan. Currently the format for this is MM/DD/YYYY.
FirstEngAirDate This is the date the episode first aired in English, usually in the United States. Currently the format for this is MM/DD/YYYY.
EpisodeNumber A two digit number representing the episode's order in the series. For example, the first episode would be 01, and so on.
ShortSummary A short summary of the episode. When writing these summaries write just information to identify the episode. Like with the screen shot, make summaries specific to that episode (as in, a description that would normally not be confused with another episode). If possible, keep summaries under three or four sentences. Further details should not be provided on the List of episodes, but instead on that series' Plot summary of the main article (or on the Plot summary article if provided).

This is where information from the template is placed when rendered:

"{EnglishTitle}"
"{JapaneseTitle}" ({KanjiTitle})
{OriginalAirDate} {FirstEngAirDate} {EpisodeNumber}
{ShortSummary}

Using the template

To apply an entry to an episode listing add the following where the episode would go in the List of episodes. Note, most Digimon Lists of episodes already have these templates presented for each episode, and simply need filling out (with the exception of Digimon Savers).

All Digimon Lists of episodes articles already include the start and end of a WikiTable, you do not need to add this as it is should already be in the article.
Because this is only part of a WikiTable, it must be used after the WikiTable (and table headers) have been written. Such as:

Screenshot !! English title (top)
Japanese title (bottom) !! Original
Air Date !! English
Air Date !! E#
colspan="5" bgcolor="#FFA040"|

The Digimon episode template would go here and then require that the wikitable be closed after the final episode entry/template with:

Example

This entry:

Would appear as follows (shown without table headers):

"And so it Begins..."
"Adrift? The Island of Adventure!" (漂流? 冒険の島!)
03/07/1999 08/14/1999 01
Seven kids at summer camp are "sucked in" to a strange "Digital World", where strange looking creatures, who call themselves Digimon, greet them.

Discussion

Please place discussion for this template after this point, thank you -- Ned Scott 07:53, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

You might notice that Digimon episode seems needlessly complex. This is so that the templates do not break during partial edits of episodes, such as, when an entry doesn't have a summary, or has a summary but no picture, etc etc. With over 200 episode entries I figured this would still display the lists the best it could before all information is filled out. Once all info is filled out then we can go back and simplify the template. In addition, some of it also makes the template compatible for List of Digimon Savers episodes, which currently does not contain "English title" or "English air date" information. -- Ned Scott 09:08, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Generalized for all episodes

Hello everyone. As a participant at Wikipedia:WikiProject List of Television Episodes, this template was brought to my attention. I have copied and pasted this template into Template:Television Episode with hopes to transform it into a generalized version that will work for any list of television episodes. I encourage you all to help out. --Will2k 03:15, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Fair Use Images

You can't have alot of Fair use images.

3. The amount of copyrighted work used should be as little as possible. Low-resolution images should be used instead of high-resolution images (especially images that are so high-resolution that they could be used for piracy). Do not use multiple images or media clips if one will serve the purpose adequately.

As I've already stated on other talk pages, this has already been discussed in the past and there has not been a conclusion on the matter. -- Ned Scott 21:44, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
