Talk:Digivolution

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Digivolution is within the scope of WikiProject Digimon, which aims to organize, expand, clean up, and guide Digimon related articles on Wikipedia.

Notice Attention: Another massive article task is on the horizon, and we will be moving many Digimon lists and articles off of Wikipedia and onto a new wiki. See WT:DIGI#Transwiki for the discussion.

[edit] Votes for deletion

Following is a Wikipedia:Votes for deletion discussion about Digivolve. The decision was to redirect the article here.

Aren't the Pokemon and Digimon ability articles staying? Personally, I think all of these should be redirected as discussed. This one's almost a decent stub, though. Keep for now. - Lucky 6.9 22:18, 27 May 2004 (UTC)

  • Pffff...insignificant. Sub-articles like this are ok, given the subject is large enough. Digimon is not. Merge, delete. Wyllium 22:20, 2004 May 27 (UTC)
  • Keep. Everyking 22:32, 27 May 2004 (UTC)
  • What's the final word on these things, though? Should they just keep being posted here on VfD or should we motion to redirect them as they come up? This article, on the other hand, looks like it's about a major power in the game. It's even well-written if just a bit sparse on definitions. Like, what's a "Digiegg?" I assume it's what a Digimon hatches from, or is it? - Lucky 6.9 22:36, 27 May 2004 (UTC)
    • They should continue to be posted here...or better yet, in many such cases, simply cleaned up by the person who happened upon them and then left alone. Everyking 22:40, 27 May 2004 (UTC)
  • Merge with and redirect to Digivolution. -Sean 22:52, 27 May 2004 (UTC)

Wow. I had to do something before adding my comment and it's already full of opinions. There's a very good reason for why I think that article should be deleted. Several, in fact. First, there's already a page for Digivolution (Digivolution). It looks much better, it's much more well written and the title of the page itself sounds better than "Digivolve". The Digivolve article is a very small stub, and the way it is now, it doesn't seem suitable for an encyclopedia (yes, not coherent enough, to be humble). Also there is just one page linking to that article (List of Japan-related topics 123-K), which isn't even the Digimon article. That can be easily repaired. There isn't enough content on Digivolve to be merged with either. It should work as a redirect, in my opinion.

I think there are plenty of reasons for this to be deleted. What you think? &mdash Mackeriv 23:00, 27 May 2004 (UTC)

  • Didn't know about the digivolution article; in that case, redirect, sure. Everyking 23:36, 27 May 2004 (UTC)
  • Whoops, likewise. Agree with Everyking. - Lucky 6.9 23:48, 27 May 2004 (UTC)
  • Is there anything stopping whoever discovers these from making them a redirect? Meelar 04:00, 28 May 2004 (UTC)
  • I'm sorry. I didn't think of transforming the article into a redirect before, that's why I posted this here: To hear people's opinion. I'm just not sure if I should remove this entire entry from VfD. &mdash Mackeriv 05:07, 28 May 2004 (UTC)
  • Redirect to digivolution.
  • The page has now been redirected. &mdash Mackeriv 19:28, 28 May 2004 (UTC)

[edit] card game and anime evolves

I think this article would be a good place to explain the differences between anime/manga evolves and card game evolves. For example, from what I understand the card games don't have a single line or two, but rather, each card has a group of cards it can be "from" or "to". We've been having a lot of problems with anons and such adding "non-canon" Digivolution data. This would be a good way to have something to point them to, in order to explain the situation, as well as being helpful info for the reader. -- Ned Scott 21:26, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Missing

When to the digidestined give up the power to have there digimon digivolve to ultimate? It was shown in the second season a few time, but i can't seen to find the original episode or movies where this happens. (plus i know this is probably the wrong page to enquire, but it seemed the best shot) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.42.76.247 (talk • contribs) .

It was sometime in the second season, around episode 38, shown in a flashback where the DigiDestined have gone back to the Digital World (which wasn't mentioned at all before this episode). I think it was to free the four guardian Digimon or something. -- Ned Scott 07:16, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
Ah i see. i thought it was originally shown in like a special between season 1 and 2, like the movie.

[edit] Capitalization

Why is Digivolution always capitalized across Wikipedia? It's not a proper noun or anything -- seems akin to evolution or metamorphosis, both of which are typically lower-case... Birdboy2000 03:35, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

It probably should be lowercase. -- Ned Scott 04:03, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mode Change

Does the show ever actually say that Mode Change is not a digivolution? This seems more often to be the viewpoint of fans, but various digimon, such as the Lucemon line and UlForceVdramon, clearly show that a Mode Change CAN be a digivolution. As UlForceVdramon also verifies a level above Mega, is there any basis for saying the other mode-changing megas are not this "Super" level?

As far as I can tell, the most oft-cited response is that the card-game calls them Megas, but it also calls Armor digimon Champions, when they are a different type of creature.128.211.254.142 03:30, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

I would say that they are above Normal Mega Level, as some fans would call them Mega II, but they are not Super Ultimate Level Digimon. [Digimon Fan That's a Guest]

[edit] In-Universe?

What exactly needs to be expanded or clarified for the article to become out-of-universe? Indiawilliams 03:36, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Biomerge

There is nudity in the Biomerge Digivolution sequences, please insert that. --ÆAUSSIEevilÆ 00:55, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Why? -- Ned Scott 03:53, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

yeah why?-kervin555

[edit] major fat cut and merge

The level of fictional detail in this article goes way too deep for Wikipedia (WP:FICT, WP:WAF). It also contains a great amount of original research, which we can't have. I'm thinking we should cut this back (a lot) and them merge the article with Digimon (creature). -- Ned Scott 02:40, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Thats not a bad idea, but then wouldn't Digimon (creature) be too long? I mean how much could we cut from the Digivolution article to make the merge smooth?--Mmmundo 17:35, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Burst Mode

I noticed in the article in the Burst Mode area, it says "...Shown so far only in Digimon Savers...". However, it was shown as early as Digimon Tamers when Beelzemon became Belzemon Burst Mode with black wings and a large gun on his right hand. Is Belzemon Burst Mode not consider this type of evolution? 60.53.96.243 18:45, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

First, I believe he was called "Beelzemon Blast Mode"; I'm not quite sure, as I've seen him called several different things. Second, it's a Mode change, like Gallantmon Crimson mode and Imperialdramon Fighter Mode. Gagbumon 19:16, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
