Digital artifact

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Digital artifacts, are visible defects in a digital photo or video picture which are specifically caused by the digital encoding. Digital artifacts usually occur in the video process because of cross color and cross luma. Digital images can also contain artifacts which also affect non-digital images, for example chromatic aberrations,

Two types of digital artifacts are purple fringing and compression artifacts.
