Digital Media Wire

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Digital Media Wire, Inc. (DMW) has been in business since May of 2000, when it started publishing its email newsletter - Digital Media Wire Daily - dedicated to objective coverage of news stories about the convergence of media, entertainment and technology. Today, it is a media company that owns and produces 7 major conferences, publishes a daily email newsletter and industry directory, and operates a news and community portal - www.dmwmedia.com – which it launched in July of 2006.

DMW readers, community members and contributors include executives in media, entertainment and technology, from Mark Cuban to Guy Kawasaki to senior executives at all of the major record labels, film and television studios and game publishers, and many others. The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) is an investor in two of DMW’s conferences and the company has partnership deals with dozens of publishers, universities and other organizations including the Nielsen family of publications (Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, etc.), the Reed family of events and publications (Reed Midem, Variety, Multichannel News, Broadcasting & Cable, etc.), NYU’s Stern School of Business and UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. Recent advertisers and sponsors include Motorola, YouTube, AOL, Universal Music Group, Comcast, Sony Online Entertainment, Akamai, IBM, Deloitte, The Boston Consulting Group, Texas Instruments, LiveNation, NPR, PassAlong Networks, Cablevision, Endemol, Savvis and many more.

DMW was recently recognized in the March 26, 2007 edition of The Wall Street Journal (Recommended Reads by Jim Griffin, Managing Director of OneHouse LLC):

“DMW is a hub of information about digital media, though not a hometown cheerleader for Hollywood (L.A. is a company town and most of its news outlets treat it that way). A wire service for digital media, DMW provides the top stories of the day, breaks news, and puts everything in context. Publisher Ned Sherman is more than the average pundit: He is an attorney and has an inside grasp of what is happening. The site also hosts first-rate conferences and has the best job board in new media. It is without fear or favor regarding news and catches the news that others miss."

[edit] Editorial Mission

To provide busy media, entertainment and technology executives with the most important news stories about the convergence of media, entertainment and technology. DMW also has an Analysis and Opinion section, composed of three staff writers as well as external contributors like Mark Cuban, Guy Kawasaki and Rohit Bhargava.
